Perhaps a GOOD day please?
Apr. 27th, 2001 02:24 pmSo I feel compelled to point out that, if birthdays were like popcorn, then historically, mine have been like the burnt, un-popped kernels at the bottom of the bag. They have a lot of potential at first, but eventually somebody pushes the wrong button and torches any chance of it being a completely enjoyable day.
Now, don't get me wrong, I've had some awesome birthday parties in my lifetime. But those awesome parties always seem to fall on a day other than my actual birthday. The day itself, for some reason, seems to be wrought with problems. Problems which, for one reason or another, I really don't feel like discussing here. And, just to give you an idea of what I've dealt with on past birthdays, I'll tell you that the only problems I absolutely won't publicly write about are the major ones, the private ones, the ones that hurt the most emotionally... so, we're talking about some serious stuff here.
But, so far, today has been mostly harmless. James, Nikki, and Zach stopped by just after I ate lunch, and we killed some time talking and goofing around. I feel good, not exhausted, or grumpy, or angry. My Gamex errands for the afternoon have been unexpectedly reduced, and I even got the soda machine to cooperate with me today. It's relatively small stuff, yeah, but on a day that is normally wrought with complications, I'll treasure any small victory I can find.
So, keep your fingers crossed for me, kids. There are 9 hours and 35 minutes left today.
