batskeets: (yan!)
I had some lovely times over the weekend, but they were pretty lazy times, heh.

Alex's birthday on Thursday was pretty good. We started at Indigo and ended up at 80's Night, which wound up being pretty fun. I'm quickly discovering that the whole bar scene is losing its appeal for me, though. I do like doing such outings with workpeople, and I'm not sure why that's different from other instances, but it still remains fun, for whatever reason. Otherwise, however, if I'm not occupied with something like dancing or karaoke? Yaaaawn. Why sit around on my duff at some noisy bar, when I can just hang out with my buddies, pay less money for better beer, and hang out in a more conversation-friendly environment? At the very least, I think I'd rather claim DD status and get free Diet Cokes for my trouble.

I went to a goodbye party for one of my now-former Marketing homeys after work on Friday, and that was low-key and fun. I had planned on doing the weekly outing with workpeople after that, but I eventually decided that I wasn’t in the mood, so I skipped it and went running instead. I've been feeling like a lazy ass anyway, so I wanted the exercise more. Saturday was pretty boring, obviously, because I was stuck at work making up for lost hours, but when I got home, I found a bounty of vegetables in the fridge that needed to be used up post haste, so I went over to the Shack, grilled said vegetables, and put them over pasta, and it was quite a hit. That makes me happy. :D I'd have been eating that stuff until I was blue in the face if I'd made it all for myself, and if there's one thing I like as much as eating delicious food, it's making delicious food and foisting it on other people.

David suggested the idea of going swimming on Sunday, but when we cruised on by the public swimming pool, it was packed to the gills with rugrats running around and being obnoxious... so we skipped that and settled for the little pool in my backyard. Not exactly the hardcore swimming fun that I'd had in mind, but it was still pretty nice. We wound up grilling burgers on the upstairs deck for dinner... I haven’t had a good burger in ages, and that one certainly did the job right.

We also wound up running all over town trying to find someplace where we could rent Season 2 of Battlestar Galactica, but nobody had disc 1 of the set available! And Blockbuster is completely worthless and doesn't even carry the series at *all*. David eventually broke down and just bought the whole set at Wal-Mart. ::rotfl:: It's almost hilarious how easy it is to get people hooked on that show... I've recommended it to quite a few people who have pretty varied tastes, but all of them end up loving it. It really is well made.

Yesterday, I was all pumped for some BBQ madness courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] polysciguy, but I didn't hear from anybody, so I guess that didn't pan out. :( However, Ben had learned of some sailboats that are available for rent out by Fern Ridge, so we wound up heading out there in the afternoon. We were rather nervous when we were first renting out the boat, because the boat rentals were intended for “experienced sailors,” and the guy who rents them even gave a pop quiz about several less-than-ideal sailing situations. (man overboard, having to do a sudden jibe, etc.) Ben apparently knew more than he thought he did, though, so we got out on the water without any problems. :) I have to say that we did a pretty fine job of making that little boat go, considering the fact that David knows less than Ben does, and I knew a hell of a lot less than either of them, having only sailed once before. I think I actually learned a few things on this go-round, so hopefully my stupid brain will actually hold onto some of that knowledge for a little while.

Anyhoo, yeah, nice weekend, but I'm feeling fat and lazy after all that stuff, and the Rec Center re-opens today, so I'm going to train like a crazy man. Weights and running tonight, wushu tomorrow, more madness beyond!

Oh yeah, and more projects to work on at home, as usual. BTW, [livejournal.com profile] nidaba and [livejournal.com profile] gmendel, the wedding pictures are almost ready :)

And, I'm off.
