batskeets: (spoon)
Weeelll, the weekend wound up being pretty nice, in spite of it being off to a fairly lousy start.

I sifted through boxes of stuff pretty much all day on Saturday... threw out some things that I should have thrown out a long time ago, but didn't because I'm a packrat. (Hint: if you haven't unpacked the box since the last time you moved, odds are you won't need anything in it this time around, either. ;p) I have a pretty sizeable box of stuff going for the eventual Group Yard Sale, too.

Wound up going on a bike ride later in the evening, way out to the west end of town... not karaoke, but after not having time to train for three days prior, it was nice to actually get off my butt and do something active for a while. ;p

Went to see [livejournal.com profile] nidaba and [livejournal.com profile] gmendel get married yesterday, and wow, Shortest. Ceremony. EVER! Not that it's a bad thing, but surprising, to say the least, especially since I got all turned around on the way there, and then got stuck behind the slowest SUV on earth, so I wound up getting there late. So, yeah, not the best way to start things off, but the reception was fun, and the wedding party looked *fantastic*. Those were some damned good fashion decisions. :) I took some photos that will hopefully be decent--yargh, I want a remote flash and a telephoto lens--and got to see quite a few people that I haven't seen in eons! That was really, really good.

People met Ben, too, which was... well, probably a little weird for all parties involved. I felt like it sort of implied a more serious partnership between us than what actually exists, I guess. It might've been less weird if David had been able to come, too, because it was mainly supposed to be a sort of practice run for us with the whole wedding photography thing, so all three of us should have been there. (because [livejournal.com profile] nidaba and [livejournal.com profile] gmendel are nice and said we could do that) He's out of town at some family reunion thing, though, so no dice there.

Yeah, I have asked myself more than once if it's a bad idea to be involved with somebody at this juncture. It's one of the many trains of thought that comes running through my brain at regular intervals. I think I'm sick of trying to exert control over things I can't actually control, though--namely, relationships and other people's behaviors--and this? Definitely can't control what's going to happen here. So, I guess I roll with it until the negatives outweigh the positives.

Anyway, after the reception started winding down, we decided to go biff around on the hiking trail and see some of the waterfalls around the state park where the wedding was held. I haven't really done a lot around Salem, but it's a nice little area over there, and I got some pretty excellent pictures, too. We headed into town for some italian food after that--with quasi-expensive italian wine, even--and by then it was getting pretty late.

Aaaand, here it is Monday. I desperately want to go to karaoke at Black Forest tonight, but there's work to be done this evening, so it's probably not going to happen. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll get it knocked out early. Also, I neeeed to train, even if it's just running. On the plus side, I might get to wushu tomorrow, because a few people are around town right now and are practicing sporadically... woo!

That's all I've got... off to the track soon.
Lesson (re)learned: Kraft Mac 'n' cheese reheats for crap. :p Thankfully, I don't eat the stuff hardly at all anymore...

On a happier note, [livejournal.com profile] evil_violet left me a voicemail while we were out at Silver Falls yesterday, and we'll apparently be dog-sitting for a few weeks! That's actually really awesome, because after seeing Gizmo a couple weekends ago, I've basically been going, "aaawwwww!" at every single little dog I see on the street... cripes, I miss that dog something ridiculous.

Of course, by the end of the dog-sitting period, I'll probably want a dog of my own even *more* than I do now, but eh, what can you do.

Anyhoo, had a decent run, and I'd better get back to working on stuff.
