Today's theme is, apparently, ignoring my expert advice on design and web sites, and the ramifications of it.

Firstly, I spent two hours banging my head against Squarespace, because a client decided that Squarespace was easier to work with than Wordpress. Problem is, Squarespace is so rigid that I can't customize everything the way she wants, so it has mainly been an unneccessary waste of my time and her money. At least I got paid, but jeeeeez. :p

THEN, I gave someone else some important advice about a logo design that someone else did, and recommended some small changes to improve legibility and scalability. So far, it looks like that advice is being ignored, too. Nobody can say that I didn't warn them, I guess, but as the webmaster, this is ultimately going to become MY problem.

I need a beer. :p

LOL, man, your head would have exploded at some of the stuff I was told to do at my last job. Legibility? What's that? You wrote "On Sale now!"? No, no, that's awful, write "This is a sale which you will experience all of your fantasy dream love come true situations!".

Which is to say, I know your design feels. heh.

Hahahaha, I love that drawing.

I'm fortunate in that most of the people I work with are smart enough to know that they don't know enough to do it themselves. But, occasionally, someone shows up who's all, "I'm going to pay you not-enough-money for your expertise and then ignore everything you recommend!" Because, you know, that's obviously a good investment of one's limited startup cash flow. :p

Those people are the best. It'd be a lot better for everyone if they'd just be up front and be all "hey, I'm gonna pay you a small fee to tell me that all of my ideas are right, regardless of whether they actually are or not".

squarespace is ok for noobs who want to pick one of the standard designs and run with it. i shudder to think of having to customize it, though. >_

It must just be today. Some guy messaged me on OK Cupid and asked moronic question that were right in my profile. I responded (because I have vowed to respond to everyone) by copying and pasting those parts of my profile. In his reply, he clearly hadn't read what I sent, so I copied and pasted again.

Then, I wrote to a woman who is a moderator for a support group I was in with a question related to a post in the group that I made last week. Since she sent me something in reference to the post, I assumed that she had read it. Clearly not, though. Also, in her response to me, she commented on someone else's post in a way that clearly indicated she either hadn't read or hadn't understood that either.

Today is clearly cursed.
