batskeetsI got word late last night after scrimmage: I am officially on the roster for the Season Opener! OMJESUS. The odds were pretty good that I'd get on, seeing as the roster is 14, and we had 15 people who were available and making attendance requirements. Still, being one of the newest skaters, and having had a fairly lousy practice on Monday, I wasn't exactly certain I wouldn't get cut from the roster.
I had a good scrimmage last night, too. It had been two weeks since I'd scrimmaged with my team--I missed last week due to the flu, and the week prior due to being in California. I was shaking off the final bits of an illness last night, so I definitely could've been more aware and "with it," but I made some good strides in terms of keeping calm, and trusting myself to do the right thing at the right time. And it worked out!
I also got my team uniform at practice on Monday. I probably should've gone with a size larger, but eh, I guess I'll just have to choose whatever tights/pants I wear carefully, heh. Either way, I still love the thing, and I can skate in it.
So, yes, this is happening. I'll be playing in my first bout with my team, one week from Saturday. Even if I'm not put into very many lineups during the game, I'm going to be out there, in my shiny new uniform, being introduced over the loudspeaker. And I'll be right there, on the bench, ready to support my team when they need me. It's going to be SO GREAT.
