Hey dudes. It occurs to me that, in preparation for the Hood Canal trip, I should stop procrastinating and actually buy my own tent. But, since I only really need a single-occupancy tent, I'd also like to kill two birds with one stone by getting a tent that I could use for backpacking at a later date.

SO: can you recommend an inexpensive, compact-and-lightweight tent that would work well in a backpacking context? Or maybe a location in Portland where I could acquire one?

Gracias!

dude, totally check out next adventure for cheap gear! i've been meaning to go there for a nice 1 person tent too. REI really does have some amazing high quality ones but they do come with a price tag. You can find a good 1 person tent from REI for $75 at the cheap end and average around $130-150 for mid-range. I think it's worth it if you're doing a lot of camping and need a good tent for all seasons, but if it's a couple times a summer thing then a cheaper one is the way to go!
