"...in the middle of my BACKSWING?!"
Sep. 1st, 2005 02:48 pmI suppose that, in fairness, we can't be *entirely* sure of what the reporter saw these people doing prior to taking these photos, but the word choice on these two photo captions gives me pause, all the same.
Speaking of the hurricane, I hope to scrounge up a few bucks for the Red Cross relief fund. You should, too! Or, if'n you like poker, you could play in the online tournament for charity that Wil Wheaton is organizing. I, personally, am fairly hopeless at poker--some unholy combination of very bad luck with the cards I get, and a pitiful lack of experience at the game--so I'll be going for option A.
Anyhoo, my gimp ankle seems to have recovered enough that I made it through my regular yoga class yesterday. I didn't feel froggy enough to try cardio, because it's higher impact, so there's more risk of stepping wrong and hurting myself, but things are on the upswing. I am going to try Taiji class tonight and hope that goes well, too.
I *crave* wushu, but I'm still too worried about my ankle to even attempt that. Grrr. I'm never going to get that split landing if I don't heal up soon!!
Beer may happen this weekend; I'm still waffling. Takers?

Date: 2005-09-02 05:52 pm (UTC)Really, though, it'd likely be me going to a party consisting mostly of people I probably won't know, and I have to be in a certain mood for that kind of thing. :p Hence, the waffling.

Makes sense that they were taken by two different photographers. I'm sure there's quite a lot of racism going on, because those things bubble to the surface when conflicts like this happen, but I'm not sure this is a good solid example of it. I'd say the people in Ground Zero hurting and injuring each other while flinging around color-words is a much better indication of that.

Date: 2005-09-02 04:02 am (UTC)One of the comments on that entry notes that the photos come from two different sources.. one of which consistently uses "finding", the other "looting".

And yes, that episode kicks ass! I'm thinking it'll probably make it into that Top 6 Episodes marathon they're having this weekend. :)

Date: 2005-09-03 07:05 pm (UTC)I already have everything on disc, but I wonder which ones they'll pick. Ooo ooo, they'd better show "The Fifth Race".
something of note...
Date: 2005-09-02 07:59 am (UTC)Apparantly with that particular news firm if you ain't white, you ain't right. I would happily LOOT in fucking thing I want if I or any of my family were starving and/or thirsty or soon would be.
