Who needs a vacation? I do!
Sadly, I don't think the trip to Cali will quite do it, either. I feel like I need some R&R, and I rarely come back from any trip feeling rested or relaxed, regardless of the location I go to, or the length of said trip. Satisfied, yes, but not rested or relaxed. I plan on doing some short-but-epic reading and napping on the plane.
I'm sure things would be looking much better right now if A) I'd gotten more than 6 hours of continuous sleep last night, B) I wasn't working on a really convoluted XSL file that somebody else wrote ages ago, and C) IF I HAD MY NEW GODDAMNED GLASSES ALREADY.
Yeah, I know, bitch bitch bitch. But you know? I really wasn't up for enduring two more WEEKS of eye strain. I'm feeling draggy and unmotivated enough as it is.
On the plus side, we went shopping for beds yesterday. There is still the softness/firmness debate to be settled before a final choice is made, however. Yes, if I have a pillow on hand to properly elevate my head, I can pretty much sleep on anything short of a very large brick. Isn't everyone like that? ;p
Still, it's good to have the most time-consuming portion out of the way. This includes the part where Mr. Slicked-up Salesdude prods you into lying down on about a dozen different beds that are out of your desired price range, even though you made a beeline for the more modestly-priced merchandise, and you are *so* not going to plunk down $500+ more than you intended to spend. Yes, the latex support system is very cool, but massive credit card debt is, well, Not.
Also, it's a rather good thing that J is weirded out by the prospect of sleeping on memory foam, because that means neither of us will ever want to pay out the ass for a Tempurpedic bed. $3000+ for a slab of foam? Oh, hell no.

Date: 2005-08-03 07:17 pm (UTC)So yeah, they're giving me what they call a Prism lens for the eye that's off--it bends the light so the two eyes get images that line up with each other, and everything appears all nice, sharp and focused. :D
And I just got them this morning, so yay!
