EDIT: So I told Phil I'd be his springboard to limited internet fame by pimping out this video they made. It's pretty twisted-funny, so if you like it, go ahead and post the link elsewhere. They'd probably be pretty amped if you did. :)
Yesterday was a long, but fun day. I got up yesterday and basically came to the conclusion that we had no base components with which to make a decent meal. So, we went and had a late brunch, and then finally took a long shopping trip in order to re-stock our woefully empty refrigerator. Irritatingly, Safeway has been completely out of egg substitute, fat-free plain yogurt, *and* the vanilla yogurt I generally eat, for the entire week! Damned kids coming back to school and buying up all my food. ;pppp Still, otherwise we're pretty well stocked up again. Pheeeew.
After we got back and put everything away, I had just about enough time to gussy up, and went to pick up
junsiew for the dinner party. I never did quite grasp the definition of "semi-formal", so I guess I was a little overdressed, but hey, it was either wear the red dress, or show up in a business suit. Yeah, because I *want* to feel like I'm going to a meeting. ::laughs::
Anyway, Keith took care of the main course with his arroz con pollo, Robert made a surprisingly good salad, and Nick and Momo brought over some quesadillas they had made. Overall, a pretty good spread. :) Later on, Ella made some yummy battered-and-fried bananas, like the kind you get at your friendly neighborhood Thai restaurant. Soooo good. One of these days, I think I'll have to cook a few things of my own--I've had good luck with things like broccoli beef and wontons as of late, so maybe I should find a time to flex my Chinese cooking skills. :)
Aside from the foodage, there was just a lot of hanging out and playing games. I *finally* got a chance to play Cranium, which kind of didn't make sense at first because there was confusion about the rules, but in the end, my team took a decisive victory. I knew my awesome spelling skills would come in handy one day! LOL :) I also remembered to take my new camera with me, so a few pictures are here. My new camera? ROCKS. By the way. I must remember to carry it with me more often.
I rolled on home around 12:30, caught up with the TiVo a little, and then pretty much passed out. Good stuff. Today, I do laundry and veg out, because I really need some time to recharge, both physically and mentally. The past 2 weeks have been pretty draining on all fronts.
