Question for those who have some knowledge of 3-D software! :D
Do y'all have any ideas for good web sites to look at for tutorials on learning 3-D software? Bear in mind that I made a landscape in Bryce maybe once, and didn't really know what I was doing, so I'm quite a beginner. Also, Maya tutorials would be preferable, because I'm still working on getting 3DSMax. (I'll get 3DS eventually, though)
If you could recommend a good book on 3D, too, that'd also be a big help! I'd have to wait until I get paid before I can go buy it, though.
Thaaaaank you! :D
In other news, I made *awesome* soup tonight, from a recipe that I modified to make it less heavy and bad-for-you. Yum! I'll have to make it again sometime. Wushu was tough, but not too bad--I'm feeling very glad that I practiced and stayed active over break. Now we just have to learn the rest of the frasking form in 2 weeks! Geh. ;p
And, I'm off to bed. ::poof::
P.S. This is neat! (albeit lengthy) I don't know why. Maybe I'm just amused by the odd mish-mash of French and Japanese stylings. (and the rampant anime and video game references ::rotfl::)

Date: 2004-03-30 06:38 am (UTC)3DTotal.com is the BEST tutorial site ever. Go to the menu on top that says Free Stuff ->Tutorials :D I use the Joan of Arc tutorial for doing any figures. Most of those are Max tutorials though. I think discreet has the trial for Max on their site. :D

Date: 2004-03-30 06:29 pm (UTC)But you like Pahalniuk(spelling?), right? Maybe you'll like it. It's a really dark first-person account of drug addiction, sorta. It's a bunch of short stories about the same character. The sentences are just incredibly beautiful. Like poetry, but into a cohesive story. My ex-girlfriend hates the book though, cause the main character is a dash of reprehensible. But she has bad taste so don't listen to her.
But if that's sounding not cool at all to you, I highly recommend Atonement by Ian McEwan. It was just recently released on paperback and McEwan is pretty close to the greatest living writer. And I'm not the only one who thinks so. They gave him the Booker(whatever that is, I think it's pretty prestigious) for it.
And if you're one of the few people under 30 who hasn't read A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, I'd say it is damn fine despite its hipster reputation.

And I should warn that Jesus' Son is absolutely nothing like Palahniuk except that his characters are generally disreputable types.
Otherwise they aren't similar at all.
