I am almost disturbed at how much I like this vinaigrette. Two parts olive oil, one part balsamic vinegar, one part lemon juice, add basil to taste. Whisk together and pour over your favorite salad. (I recommend some nice greens topped with grilled chicken breast and goat cheese crumbles) I could eat this every day.

I am *tired*. I couldn't fall asleep last night, and I still dragged myself out of bed at 10a this morning, so I'm just... blaaaaaahhhhh. Yuck, yuck, yuck. I made a pantload of progress on my knitting last night, though, and should have no trouble finishing it off today. Getting the other gifts done may be more of a trick, but I'm trying not to be too anal-retentive about them, as I generally am with artsy-craftsy projects. Gah, must not obsess over tiny details.

There was a sizeable earthquake down in California earlier today, about 35 miles away from my dad's work, even. That's probably not the best thing, when you work for a nuclear power plant. ::laughs:: But no, both units at the plant are fine, and my dad is obviously also okay, since he was able to send me and his buddies an e-mail about the quake like 10 minutes after the fact. It apparently shook up the building like a mo'fo', though.

In other, completely random news, I programmed the MacGyver theme song into my cell phone yesterday. Hee hee hee! :D Another reason why it's good to have knowledge of music.

I did all my errands that required leaving the house, so I have a quiet day ahead. I have a lot left to do, but I'm not sure what order to do it in. I should be near the computer sporadically this afternoon, though, so if anyone wants anything, feel free to pester me, even if an away message is up. It'll mostly be there to deter any random strangers who might slow my progress on the gifts. :)

EDIT: Neat survey:
1) Using band/artist names, spell out your name.
SMAP
Aphex Twin
Rufus Wainwright
Anniversary, The
Hives, The

L.una Sea

George Thorogood
Interpol
Flaming Lips, The
Finger Eleven
Rancid
October Project
Weezer

(You *know* I used my middle initial just to put Luna Sea in there. ::adslfhasdfaashkl::)

2) Have you ever had a song written about you?
No, not directly. I had one written *for* me, but not really about me. And there are a few with my name in it, I think--there's one in particular that you should *never* sing around me. For real. One decade was bad enough.

3) What song makes you cry?
"Forever Love," by X Japan. It never quite got me until after I watched The Last Live version on video, though. Rufus Wainwright's "Foolish Love" and his rendition of "Hallelujah" also bring me perilously close.

4) What song makes you happy?
"Dynamite," by SMAP. Most J-Rock non-ballads. Most stuff by Weezer. Things that I can sing along with. "Tunak Tunak Tun" by Daler Mendhi. "Killy is Number 1!" from Lunar 2, the Voicelugger theme... hell, pretty much anything that will make me laugh and dork out. Anything by James Brown. Just about any hair metal from the 80's. HERE I AM! Roooock you like a hurricaaaaane!!!

5) What do you like to listen to before bed?
Nothing in particular, really. I don't always have the chance to put something on before sleep. I used to put in the self-titled October Project album, or the Utena OST 1 quite often when I lived in the dorms, though.

6) Name a song by Coal Chamber.
Who are they, and why should I care?

7) Who was/were your idol/s when you were younger?
Define, "younger." I had some pretty bad taste until I hit 13 or so, and then I was all about Pearl Jam and Smashing Pumpkins and that sort of thing.

8) First album you ever bought?
WILSON PHILLIPS. Yes, please kick me like the mongrel dog that I am. ::asdlfkhadsflkashkl:: Although, in my defense, I also bought The Bangles' Different Light at the same time, but that one was suggested by my dad.

9) Name a song that reminds you of someone and why.
"In Your Wildest Dreams," by the Moody Blues reminds me of car trips with my dad. "Punk Rock Girl" by the Dead Milkmen reminds me of C. "Truly Madly Deeply" by Savage Garden *still* reminds me of my freaking ex. Most country music reminds me of James.

Gah. Must... not... be... distracted!

Well, I cut it off at the "4e2, 2a1" part, and added some rests in there to make certain parts sound more stacatto-y like in the song, but basically, yeah. :)

The one site I usually looked at for J-rock discographies has since closed... maybe a search on CDJapan would help?

I'm so stealing this survey to have and love for my very own.

Have fun while you're away.
