Odd tangent...

This one made me think for a while... for those not in the know on J-rock, hide (pronounced "hee-day") was a phenomenal artist who passed away under rather mysterious circumstances a few years ago. (And don't capitalize his name either... he didn't like it. :p)

Alyson: i almost bought a hide doll 5 minutes ago, but i stopped myself. ;_;
Me: Aaawww... but hide wants to be owned by you! <3
Alyson: first i couldn't decide which one (i picked the old-school one with all the hair and the black outfit. he's pretty. ;_;) but then it sorta seemed really odd to me that i was going to purchase a plushie version of a dead man. and i started getting philosophical and decided not to spend the $25 and just got a luna sea wristband instead. :LDKSJD:LKJ ^_^;;;
Me: AKASDLKFH! That's kinda funny, man...
Alyson: well, y'know.. i just started thinking about j, and all the rest of his friends, and how the hell it made them feel to see all these little hides in the ufo catcher machines, and it made me sad. ;_;
Me: You know, that really *is* disturbing. It'd be like seeing a plastic keychain of my grandma inside one of those freakin' prize claw things. It ain't right.
Alyson: *nods* yeah, exactly! i mean, hide was the shit, for certain, but... he still has friends and family walking around that have to see that shit. x_x; and some of em are still really sensitive over it... *coughJcough* i don't think i could handle it. or else i'd own like 5000 of the fuckers. x_X; i feel so bad for all of em. x_X; no wonder zilch is still playing the old-school shit, and j's dedicating his solo career to him, etc etc...
Me: Totally. And I can't even fathom the whole of it because I've never been particularly close to anyone who's died before. ^^;

Okay, there's a band named Spock's Beard? ROFL -- what kind of music do they play? Btw, there's a German band called S.P.O.C.K. that do Euro-techno-synth kind of stuff. The titles are unbelievably silly like 'I wanna be a Klingon' and other Trek related things.

I have a hard time describing their exact brand of music... I'd say the closest approximation is Rock, although it has a more unique feel to it, at least IMHO. And no, I haven't caught any obviously Trek-related lyrics from them yet. ^_-
