Shave The Whales!... just not when it's cold.

I don't shave my legs in winter. Why? Because it eats up a good 20-25 minutes of the day every time I do it (which is at least several times in a week because hair grows back way to freaking fast), and it's a completely fruitless effort this time of year because nobody ever *sees* them. And you have to admit, all this shaving stuff is 99% for appearances and/or for pleasing the opposite sex, so you have to ask yourself: would you really do it if nobody cared?

If I was ever dating somebody who actually gave a damn about it, then yeah, I'd probably do it even in winter, because I am admittedly a slave to at least some of the incredibly slanted social conventions of today. But if it doesn't impact anyone else, then why bother with it? You can do a hell of a lot with an extra 20 minutes in your day. Besides, if I were to try to wear anything like, say, a miniskirt this time of year, my toes would probably fall off.

Dance class in 20. Taking off soon for that. I think we have our "quiz" today. I hope I remember the routine they've been teaching!

Now see, that's exactly what I'm talking about. If somebody actually saw them regularly and cared about the lack of shaving, then I'd do it. Because I'm nice like that. ;p

My legs aren't even particularly hairy, so I don't even notice when the hairs are there, except maybe around my ankles, and only when I'm actively looking. I'm sure it's nicer for some girls though... I have fine Asian hair, so it's easier for me to forget about it than it would be for some.

To the rummy above: WHATever. Let's see YOU shave your legs on a biweekly basis when your legs aren't even being seen, sweetheart.

And Skeets, I totally sympathize and agree with you on the leg ish. Granted, I do still shave my ankles, but that's just because I can't stand looking at the little black hairs that only seem to want to grow on my ankles. As for the rest, who cares? Boyfriend doesn't care, I don't care, my grandma doesn't care, so who's gonna be hurt by the hair on my knees as long as they're unexposed? I'll shave them monthly now, weekly come spring.

i am downright furry. dark, thick hair. and i see no reason to shave at all. part of the reason is laziness, part (along with other things) is the fact that the only women who have naturally hairless (or relatively so) legs are prepubescent. and why do we find looking like a prepubescent girl sexy?

i just wear black tights with all my skirts, and don't give a fuck about the looks i get in shorts.

That's totally spot-on. A+! And speaking of looking like a prepubescent girl, there's that god-awful Hollywood standard of all attractive women being flat-chested and built like twelve-year-old boys. (with the exception of those who are silicone-enhanced... yecch) We have so many really pointless social conventions these days. I hope to be as enlightened as you one day. :D
