Well, I'm off to California in a few hours. I'm leaving the office around 12 today. W00t!
Of course, I got in an argument with Ma on the phone last night--surprise surprise--so I'm a bit less excited than I was before. :p I'm not sure what gets me so pissed off whenever money comes up in a discussion with her... maybe it's the fact that she's all, "hurry hurry hurry," and, "do this right-effing-now," but still has yet to actually explain WHY I'm supposed to do these things, in anything but the vaguest of terms. If I don't understand the reasoning behind it, then why should I do it?
At times like this, I wish that I had either learned Chinese, or just asked my dad instead. :p The communication barrier is an unholy bitch to deal with, and that's not even including the cultural disconnect between my Moderate American idealism and her Conservative Chinese pragmatism. We just don't worry about the same things.
Anyway, I will still get to do less stressful things like seeing my dad and my grandpa, so hopefully it will be okay. If this trip turns into a 4-day-long lecture from my ma, well... I'd almost rather hitchhike home than stick around for that. :p

On a happier note: Man, I love doing Taiji broadsword. :D So fun!! The sword I have to use is rather heavy, so my arms get tired after only a few cut coils, but it still kicks ass. I'm sad that I won't be around to go to Taiji tonight, but there's always next week, I guess.
Anyway, lots of work to do in the next half hour or so, so I'm out, chief. Not sure if I'll post or not while I'm gone, but I promise pictures when I get back! (or at least, the backlog of pictures I've taken over the past month or two, if not any new ones)
P.S. The fact that the I Hate Ann Curry blog exists kind of cracks me up.
