Uuuuugh. I feel decidedly yuck right now. Put together some dancing, a bit of drinking, a scratchy throat, and a morning of cramps, and things don't look so great. Blar.

I just got back from singing at the retirement home, and it was pretty okay. I think I would have liked more practice time beforehand, but the old folks seemed to enjoy it a lot, so it's all good. There was one sweet old lady in particular who really seemed to like it, and told several of us that she'd like us to come back again, so that was cool. I only wish I had been feeling better today--it can be hard to brighten someone else's day when you're not feeling particularly bright yourself.

The holiday party was yesterday--not too bad, really. I got quite a few compliments on my dress, which makes me laugh a little, knowing that I spent a whopping $15 on it! (yes, I actually found one, through some random stroke of luck--at 8:30pm on Thursday night, no less) The food was good, and a few of the tunes I picked out made it into the rotation, so there was some good dancing. The DJ was pretty mediocre at times, though, but eh, no big.

I ducked out after a couple hours, because the music was getting lackluster again, and James was looking pretty under-the-weather, but instead of going home, we ended up at [livejournal.com profile] nick2310's place with a few other folks, and we played a couple of games and generally goofed around. Oddly enough, I think I enjoyed that more than the fancy party--I really have to be in a particular sort of mood to enjoy a great big party function with lots of people I haven't met. And, come on, gaming. God, I'm such a nerd. ::rotfl::

In other news, I have done almost NO Christmas shopping. This is bad. I do have a few things ready, and I'm crafting some other gifts, but I haven't gotten any sort of gift idea list from *anyone*. I sent mine off to my dad before Thanksgiving, and he said he'd let me know when he heard back from the rest of the family, but so far? Nothing.

I suppose I can wing it, because I've done it before, and I do like to try and think up a gift that the recipient would enjoy, but wouldn't think to ask for. But you know, it *would* be nice to have a ballpark idea of what people need and want, just for guidance. Foo.

The FedEx guy came by with my broadsword instructional tape today! Yaaaayy! But my spankin' new broadsword is still under lock and key at the Post Office, because I didn't have time yesterday to go way the hell out to 33rd and Willamette and get it yesterday. Boooo! Not that I'd have the energy to start learning the techniques today, but it's still irritating that my sword is not here in hand. I suppose I'll start Monday.

Another bummer: I'll more than likely be working tomorrow. I'm sure you're all thrilled for me. ;p I lost a lot of time yesterday and Thursday wrestling with troublesome apps that were preventing me from doing my work, so much so that they wound up getting me a temporary Linux box, so I could actually *do* my work. Needless to say, the timing was not so great.

So, yeah, things kind of bite, right now. But there are a few happy shiny points in there, so it could be worse. I think it'll all seem much better when I stop feeling like poo physically. I'll write something happier later, I'm sure.
