As you might've detected in my last post, I was rather iffy on the logo/watermark thing I used for the photos I posted. It was cute, but I didn't quite love it. ([livejournal.com profile] archmage, you hit the nail on the head as to why, heh) I did like the type manipulation I did on the "creative", but the rest didn't feel very Me-ish. I *can* do detailed illustration, but strong, clean design is much more my signature.

So, I wound up spending several hours yesterday futzing with a new logo, and then made further tweaks earlier today. Now, I have two options:

Judgmental thumbs? Leanings one way or the other? The "SG" will be used by itself as a mark, in some instances, in case that impacts your decision. Detailed feedback is nice, but even "I like this one better for no good reason," is helpful, heh.

(FWIW, I like the look of the left option better because it feels more like a cohesive unit, but the one on the right more obviously implies the arrow/direction concept)

I meant to chime in about not liking the other logo...

I can't see the new ones for some reason

I like the one on the right. The one on the left doesn't read as a G to me.

I agree, it looks like a C instead.

I also thought about having a wider stroke at the base of the arrow, so it would look more obviously G-ish. I'm not sure if that'd help much, though...

Is the triangle supposed to represent something (like, a mountain)? If not, had you considered leaving it a solid triangle? I like the idea of integrating an arrow, but I think a solid head might be clearer in representing this, especially in the logo on the right.

I actually tried the left option as a solid triangle and thought the arrow got lost in the G, so it does read better this way. It could go solid on the right option, though!

I like the one on the left. The shape of the SG fits better with the 'creative' below. the extended arrow does help set it apart as a G, but I don't see the one on the left as too easy to mistake, and the arrow doesn't seem to fit the overall shape and form of the logo. If that makes sense. Design is not my strong point.

Agree the one on the left looks like a "C". Also, with the G joining the arrowhead along one side, and the arrowhead not pointing in the same direction as the the part of the shaft it's connected to, it doesn't look much like an arrow.

Honestly, I don't get the arrow. I mean, I get what you're trying to say - I think - but only because you spelled it out for me. Otherwise I'd be thinking "huh, why is there an arrow there?" Maybe making the logo emphasize the arrow more would communicate the message better? Or at least make the arrow look like a more deliberate part of the design?

Of course, if you did that, the "G" might end up looking more like a masculine symbol, which is probably not what you want...

Eh. Wish I could offer more help. Logos are a bitch.

The one on the right works better, in my opinion.

I like the one on the right - gives the icon a sense of motion/direction. :)

I think I would vote for the one on the right, but with a solid triangle. Personally, the non-solid triangle isn't working for me. If it was balanced by another non-solid shape elsewhere in the logo, it might, but it seems inconsistent with the rest of the S and the G letter shapes.

Another thought I had - you want the arrow to be headed away from the G and/or separate from the main circle bit, because if it's too close to the circle it might be read as an Undo or Reload icon.

Hm.. The one on the right kinda looks like a broken/stylized ♂, which may not be what you're going for. >_<; Maybe have it horizontal instead of at 45º?

I had actually read it as a pencil point! :D I thought that was cute and apropos to a creative person, heh. I also like the one on the right, as I like the more pronounced arrow.

Left one looks like a C with a tail. I vote the right one.

I also vote the right one. The left one does remind me of a C too.

I vote the one on the left, but you should change your name to "Sarah Ciffrow".

*note... this is actually a snarky vote for the one on the right.

I like both pretty well, but I'd keep an eye on the "G" looking a bit too much like
