The past couple of nights have been, thankfully, pretty low-key. I've definitely found a greater appreciation for the moments of seemingly-mundane normalcy in my life, as of late.

Monday night had me at [livejournal.com profile] marykae's for a relaxed-and-groovy evening of Veronica Mars, in which we finally finished the series, including the 10-minute teaser pilot for the Season-4-that-never-happened, which has Veronica working at the FBI. (and can I just say? The idea of Veronica Mars without her dad in the mix completely doesn't work in my brain.)

Our next target is Farscape, which I'm pretty darned excited about. I watched a fair bit of the first season, but that was ages ago, and I lost track of it when I went away to college, because Crap Dormitory Cable = No Sci-Fi Channel. I've been looking for an excuse to watch this. (shit, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] veiravx and [livejournal.com profile] dark_knight_l, I've already started making "wormhole technology" jokes, and I haven't even *seen* those episodes yet. I'M SO READY.)

Last night, I was a doofus and forgot that I didn't need to report in at wushu until 7:15, so I showed up at 6:30, and rather than sit around for 45 minutes, I wound up doing two classes. I still wasn't caught up on sleep, so I never thought I'd make it through, but I actually felt pretty good, by the end. I think it may be safe to say that I'm getting my wushu groove back... fingers crossed.

ANYHOO. Here's a taste of what I've been shooting recently:

First off: SUNDAY. I've never really been able to have any sort of relationship with the couples whose weddings I've shot, before this, so if this is the kind of thing I have to look forward to? HELL YES. I did get a lot of, "you don't have to be so professional," and folks telling me to put the camera down for a minute and join in some dancing, so that was new and awkward for me, because I'm not accustomed to wearing my Photographer Hat and my Friend Hat simultaneously, *and* for an entire day.

Still, it was amazing to share this day with them, and when I gave Alyson hugs right before we took off, I said, "Working for you? Kicks ASS. Every time." And it truly does. I love these two stupid amounts.

A VooDoo Wedding

OH, and we also rolled out the Fauxtobooth for this one, and it was an absolute hit! We do need to hunt down better backdrop material, but the concept is certainly sound. The reception would've been much different without it, and the DJ had a lot of interest in it and made sure to get our info. Good signs, I'd say.

AND, here's our most recent senior shoot, which was the most fun we've had on one thus far, I'd say. Part of it was that the kid was unusually comfortable with the camera, which made everything worlds easier... so much so that [livejournal.com profile] theamazingjosh was joking at one point that she should model some wacky concept shoots for us, once she turns 18, heh.

JoAnna

And speaking of wacky concept shoots, her second look was definitely that! We hauled on up to Cathedral Park for this, and thanks to makeup delays, we got there, uh, later than we wanted to. Instead of dusk, we had pitch-dark, which made setup a complete pain, but we pulled out some rad shots, regardless. She also mentioned having worn this outfit to see Rocky Horror at the Clinton St. Theater, so naturally, I had to tell her about Repo! She'd apparently heard of it, but not yet seen it, and she was crazy-excited when I told her that Anthony Stewart Head was the lead, heh.

Living Doll

And finally, here's another shot of the senior with the poppin'-green eyes. I did take quite a shine to her personality, and the smirky look is definitely more what she's like in-person.

Smirky Kate

Tonight will be spent at home, most likely playing Dragon Age. And maybe having a Skype date.

The shape of my world changed just a little on the day I learned that MY MOM is a big fan of the first three Farscape seasons.
