Question: Where is your favorite place for Indian food in PDX? I have been challenged to come up with a good Indian restaurant by Saturday, and I've only been to one place in town, thus far. I *could* probably find it again if I wanted to, but I don't even remember the name of it, so I figure there has to be something around that'd make more of a positive impression.

In other news, I went to the Scissor Sisters show after wushu last night, and it. Was. AWESOME. They sounded great, they knew how to perform and had a great flair for the dramatic, AND they got the whole crowd dancing like crazy by the end of it. Portland shows seem to have a way of being very sedate, so I was prepared to be all disappointed if this completely danceable set didn't get their booties shakin'. But, much to my surprise and pleasure, PDX stepped up. So, so fun.

I also went to a Run and Yoga class yesterday morning, at this place near 43rd and Hawthorne, and I *loved* it. I've been spotty with keeping up on running, and I've been meaning to get back into doing yoga at least semi-regularly, so this kills two birds with one stone! And, ~45 minutes of stretching and restoring after a solid stretch of running is basically the best idea ever.

My shoulders and upper-back are still wicked sore, though. I think spending all of PAX weekend with various bags over my shoulder didn't do me any favors. :/ But, I'm starting to feel better mentally, at least.

And finally, this day of the meme is lame, but here it is:

Day Nine: Two smileys that describe your life right now.

1. XD
2. :o

Day One: Ten things you want to say to ten different people right now.
Day Two: Nine things about yourself.
Day Three: Eight ways to win your heart.
Day Four: Seven things that cross your mind a lot.
Day Five: Six things you wish you’d never done.
Day Six: Five people who mean a lot (in no order whatsoever).
Day Seven: Four turn-offs.
Day Eight: Three turn-ons.
Day Nine: Two smileys that describe your life right now.

Day Ten: One confession.

Vindahlo on Clinton and I think 17th? Is really really really good Indian food. It is pricey and the portions are much smaller then most Indian places. The ambiance is really nice, it's like modern Indian. The mixed drinks are amazing even the non-alcoholic ones.

I think Vindahlo is pretty tasty but the pricey/portion part kind of turned me off. Paying $10-12 for an entree and having it come in a tiny boat/bowl thing + not having any left overs made me kind of sad. And I don't eat big portions. We ordered 4 dishes and they were excellent in taste but barely enough for lunch leftovers!

I totally agree I only ever went there when my boyfriends parents were paying for my/his birthday. We would order multiple dishes and have no left overs. It is sooooo good though! If you know somewhere equally tasty but better portions I will go in a heartbeat!

I usually eat the food cart Indian for my fix.

Bombay Cricket Club is great, though a bit spendy. If you order "Hot" there, be prepared for HOT.

There's also a place on Beaverton-Hillsdale, the name of which I can't remember. It's definitely not fancy, but they have a great lunch buffet.

Hey! I just noticed you added me, so I added you back. :)

There's an Indian place on Sandy & 82nd called Namaste that has a surprisingly good dinner buffet. It's by a hotel, and I think the restaurant used to be a Black Angus or something like that, which makes for some interesting juxtapositions in interior decor. Not fancy, but the food is tasty! (FWIW, I went to Abhiruchi when we lived in Beaverton, but I think Namaste is better, if you/your guests are up for a buffet.)

The best one I've been to is kind of downtown, called Swagat. I'm normally not a big fan of Indian food, but I enjoyed it quite a bit there.

Indian Place
