Food, glorious food
May. 14th, 2010 01:51 pmSO! Last night,
daemonwise and I once again combined our powers for foodly success. We'd meant to do it a lot sooner than this, after having a good run at our first dinner gathering, but, uh, my schedule during March and April was sheer insanity.
Anyhoo, we finally got our ducks in a row enough to make another dinner happen, so
marykae,
_dilate_,
veiravx came over, and Andrew joined us at the last-minute when our fourth guest dropped out. I was overly ambitious in the number of things I chose to make, due to wanting to try about a billion different recipes, so I was still cooking when most everyone got there. But, it was worth the wait.
The dinner spread consisted of:
Chicken with Tarragon Cream Sauce
Sweet Potato Bacon Cakes
Mixed Green Salad with Honey Caper Vinaigrette
AND, not shown in the picture (because it was in the oven at the time) was a dessert of
daemonwise's own design, which was a baked apple concoction that involved Guiness and honey and I don't know what else. But oh, the deliciousness!
If we start doing this sort of thing more often, I may have to go buy some nice, matchy plates, or at least some decent serving platters. We just barely had enough plates available to serve everyone! But eh, entertaining is nice, and doing it on a smaller scale certainly makes me less manic than throwing a huge party does. I'm already pondering who will be on the guest list for our future rounds of cooking madness!
I have a busy weekend ahead, but it's busy in that good way. My mood has been all over the place this week, but good times are on the horizon. And the utterly perfect weather certainly isn't hurting anything. :)
