BIRTHDAY DINNER
Apr. 26th, 2010 02:10 pmSO! Because I partied myself out on Saturday, my Actual Birthday (tomorrow night) will be much more relaxed-and-groovy. I'm thinking that I'd like to grab dinner somewhere, after I get done at wushu. I'd like it to potentially be something new-to-me, but it doesn't necessarily have to be... but anyway, yes, I'm seeking recommendations!
I'm looking for a place that:
1) is on the East Side, preferably close-in
2) will be quiet enough on a Tuesday night to have a proper conversation
3) has good food (duh) and relaxed-and-groovy atmosphere
4) doesn't try to rush you out of the place and doesn't mind if you hang out for a while
5) is open relatively late, seeing as I wouldn't be heading over there until around 8pm.
EXTRA CREDIT: gives you something for free on your birthday
Party shenanigans recap to follow soon. In the meantime, my stomach thanks you in advance!

Date: 2010-04-26 09:32 pm (UTC)East Burnside, close in - Jade Lounge/Il Piatto, Navarre? Or Hawthorne/Belmont - 3 Doors Down? Chez Machin? (I'd recommend this one a lot, if you haven't been.) Wild Abandon? Blue Monk?

Date: 2010-04-26 09:41 pm (UTC)I like 3 Doors Down, but expect really good food and REALLY good cocktails, with the pricetag to match. Romantic atmosphere.
Blue Monk is more funky. It's a "blues bar" establishment. Often live shows.
I've never been to Wild Abandon, but it looks good and very "Portland Chic". :}
Jade Lounge is decent, but it's not at the top of the list for me. It's nice, food is alright, but I've been in there when it's been a little too loud for me.

Date: 2010-04-27 12:32 am (UTC)I think I'm leaning towards Navarre or Dove Vivi since they sound yummy and are also close to a bar I really like. Let me know how you like Pambiche, though!
