Oof, what a weekend!

The wedding on Saturday was strangely good, for how many things went wrong. Fortunately, only one of those things had anything to do with me: I was ~15 minutes late arriving because the road I needed to turn onto wasn't labeled with any sort of useful road sign. BOO-URNS. Of course, the happy couple had already had a few random disasters on their end before I even got there, so they were running even later than I was. Throw in a deadbolted chapel door that required a (missing) key on both sides, and things got held up pretty badly.

I did a pretty excellent job of keeping things moving without stressing them out further, though, and I could tell they appreciated that. And once things got rolling, the couple was *really* happy, and the bride couldn't stop smiling, and they didn't let the mishaps get in the way of them enjoying the day. We did lose out on a few of the posed portraits on their list, even after they paid me for an extra hour of coverage, but they told me they were fine with it, and were really sweet about everything. I'm always grateful when I get relaxed-and-groovy brides, because I know a lot of brides would completely freak under similar circumstances. :)

After trucking on back from the wedding, [livejournal.com profile] herince_emyn met up with me for Dr. Horrible! It was a very cute production; Dr. Horrible himself could've been a stronger singer, but eh, NPH is a tough act to follow, and the group numbers were still well-performed. I think the highlight for me, however, was the Bad Horse trio: good singing *and* amusing choreography.

Then, it was off to Edgefield for Miles' 30th birthday, which was pretty full of wackiness, and on the part of others, drunkenness. Morgan texted me the next morning, informing me that my "new goal" is to beat the 20 (yes, twenty) drinks Miles had, on my own 30th birthday. Yeah, that? NOT HAPPENING. I can only dream of metabolizing alcohol at such ridiculous speed. :p

Sunday had me waking up way earlier than I wanted to, but at least that meant I was up early enough to accept [livejournal.com profile] matrixleap's invite for breakfast. French toast and eggs and bacon always cures what ails you! After that was done with, we ran around to several Goodwills looking for something I could turn into my Space Helmet, but didn't find anything that worked. I did get a nice copy of Trivial Pursuit out of the deal, though, so not a complete waste. And then, it was cheesy kung fu movies and tasty, tasty barbecue at [livejournal.com profile] archmage's, until I got too tired to last any longer. I called it an early night with some tea and read until I dozed off.

Also, the Facebook episode of South Park? Genius. And the weather was amazing for most of the weekend. Can't complain much. :)
