Gah, I made the mistake of doing my leg workout *and* 2 hours of wushu on Tuesday, after having no wushu class over the weekend, and OMG I am so sore. NEVER. AGAIN.

Eh, who am I kidding, it'll totally happen again. Because I'm nuts and I always push harder after I get back from a break. ;p

I was measuring out my dinner yesterday, and Eric asked if I was on a diet. I said "sort of," because it's not a diet in the conventional sense, but it is a lifestyle change, and one that I hope becomes intuitive before long. And then he's all, "WHY?" like it's the most ridiculous notion ever.

I know I've been over all of this before, but I get tired of it when people act like I'm crazy because I'm "on a diet." Thinking you're "fat" is not the only reason for making a dietary change, people!

Sure, vanity does play a role in my case, because, well, duh. I like to wear cute things as much as the next lady! And I have definitely been on ridiculous diets before, as early as the age of 12, and I've done them for the wrong reasons.

But right now? I'm learning about nourishing myself well, for all the things that I do. I *am* kind of a slave to the measuring spoons right now, but I won't be forever. It's better for my health, I feel stronger when I train, and I don't feel like I'm being shamed into it by society. What's ridiculous about that?

Of course, I'm sure this nutrition stuff would work a lot better if I got proper sleep. (I never quite get up to the happy 8-hour/night medium a person should be at) Or if I brought down my stress levels. (hooray for being constantly overcommitted!) But, being healthy is hard in this society, when we're all sitting at desks, working our butts off in pursuit of a new plasma screen TV or whatever. If it weren't so difficult, we'd all be taking better care of ourselves.

Well, one thing at a time. The whole blasted puzzle does come together more easily with each piece you fit into it.

Hey, I admire your commitment to it. The stuff you eat looks and smells so good. I don't think I'd feel "deprived" at all if I ate that stuff instead of my usual diet of stuff-I-can-nuke-in-the-microwave. And you look great, so something's sure working right!

Your drive always inspires me. :}

I need to get back into good eating habits. I agree, it's not so much about losing weight (though 20 more pounds would be nice) but maintaining and being better about eating my veggies and drinking my water.

I'm -dying- to get over this stupid pinched nerve so I can think about taking a dance class or martial arts. It's driving me batty.

You could always bring up that the only scientifically proven method to increase life expectancy is severe calorie restriction. ;) It is amazing how little people know, or care about taking care of themselves.

Good for you! And I like the idea of "lifestyle change" more than "diet." Diet sounds like a temporary thing that eventually falls apart.
