There's an interesting disparity between how a person comes across online and how they are in person, sometimes.

I was reminded of this at a photoshoot yesterday, when I met the guy from the magazine who set up all the styling and models for the shoot. From the e-mails we've been exchanging, I expected the guy to be, well... basically a pretentious hipster wad. Yeah, snap judgement, I know. But in person? He was totally relaxed-and-groovy and easy to work with. Sure, I'd rather have it that way than the other way around, but it's always surprising when it happens.

It's especially surprising when someone turns out to be *less* uptight than you expected. See, after having long-term internet-based interactions with a few different people, and then meeting them in person, a lot of times they're all nervous and uptight at first. Then, once they get used to you and warm up a bit, that's when you start seeing the person you saw online.

Then, there are the people who type like morons, and turn out to be cool and of reasonable intelligence in person. That happens quite a bit. I wish those people would learn how to friggin' write an e-mail though, so I wouldn't go in expecting to hate them. :p

Anyhoo, it does happen occasionally that the person I meet is exactly like how I envisioned them from their online persona ([livejournal.com profile] phrassie comes to mind as one), but it's pretty darned rare that I meet somebody and they're instantly *more* outgoing than I expected them to be. So yeah, magazine guy was a rare and happy surprise.

In other news, I followed the advice of some anonymous commenter and laid down the $4 to snag Dr. Horrible, and yes, it is AWESOME. My only question: was the anonymous commenter a Friend who forgot to log in, or was it one of Joss' minions? (come on, you know Joss has minions.)

That's all.

LOL I wasn't the commenter, but I agree with them. I ended up snagging it on iTunes, too (though I already saw them online - want to be able to re-watch later!)

Now I'm getting the songs stuck in my head...

Wow. That makes me feel really good. I feel like I have A LOT to live up to on my journal and that in real life I would be kind of a let down. Thanks for making my day.

Meeting people from the internet is so much fun. I used to be all scared about it but I haven't had a bad experience yet. Everybody I've met has been fantastic and an awesome addition to my IRL friends.
