I am totally beat, after working a full day and then spending several more hours on a mother/daughter shoot, but man, it was worth it.

It could've gotten off to a better start: Rachel was our hair and makeup whiz for the day, but she'd missed the bus to get to the studio, which meant starting a fair bit later than we wanted to. The mother was relaxed and groovy about it, though, and the kid was keeping herself amused running in circles around the ottoman, so it could have been worse. :)

We did some studio shots first, with them in matching retro-style outfits and pinup hair. Both of them also had a great energy that came through in all the shots, and the daughter was *totally* into it and even busted out some pinup poses! They were super-cute.

The one interesting wrinkle came towards the end of the shoot. They'd brought some really cute props for a picnic theme, and we wanted to do that set outdoors, but the sun was getting pretty low in the sky by the time we finished in the studio. But, my brain was saying, "grass! trees! nature things!" so I grabbed the power pack and we took off for the park with the quickness.

The sky at twilight actually added a lot of interest, and it made for a pretty unique picnic shot. It was a fun challenge and it'll make a cool addition to our portfolio. :)

It's hit me a lot recently that I find this work really gratifying. I like creating cool images, and I *really* like that I can bring happiness to other people while doing it. And the fact that they're willing to pay for it? Just adds more awesome to the equation. :)

That said? I'm glad it's Thursday, because I'm beat, and we have a free-and-clear weekend ahead of us... can't wait for it to get here.

Seriously! In the studio set she was totally rocking the hourglass figure.
