Warmth

I'll share more photos later, but I had to share this shot from yesterday because I LOVE IT and had to edit it immediately:

I can totally see this being in an ad. All this commercial/lifestyle foo has been totally worth it, for shots like this. If I ever get it posted on iStock, I think it'll make me some good dolla' bills. Booyah!

There are a lot of others that I loved, too, and I went with natural light for the whole shoot, so it was totally trouble-free and relaxing. (yes, the mystery of the faulty transmitter continues, but I won't burden y'all any further with my complaints about that) She also brought in a makeup artist I hadn't worked with before, and said makeup artist is really new to the game, but she's been busting her hump, and is already doing lovely work after just a few months.

In other news: INDIANA JONES, y'all. I do believe we're going tonight! Or, if not tonight, then sometime tomorrow or over the weekend. The trailers have been pretty excellent, so I have high hopes...!

And speaking of movies, we got Lions for Lambs the other day, and the assertion at one point in the movie that people have changed, and (totally paraphrasing) are content to sit back and get wrapped up in their own trivialities made sense. Apathy is obviously widespread today, and activism is treated almost like a fad. It seems like there are those who will make a token effort at activism, for sake of being "cool" or appearing as though they care.

But, when those same people run across someone who's *really* committed to a cause, they'll act like it's crazy to be that committed. As though it's okay to care, but not *too* much. And, the lack of true commitment from the population at large kind of ruins it for those of us who may actually *want* to make change. When you feel like a tiny dot that has no real power to make lasting change alone, you really need the power of like-minded people alongside you to keep pushing onward... so what happens when you don't have that? Well... basically, nothing.

And, because you know I can't stay serious for very long: maybe I'm just crazy, but Tom Cruise? Looked disturbingly like John Edwards in that movie. MY GOD.

That -is- a great shot, and it's got perfect spacing for copy, too! Awesome!

One of these days (soon) I'd like to pick your brain for locations to scout. I've got a book project for a friend that needs some very specific visuals, and I think you might have run across some of what I need. Would you mind giving me some hints or advice on locations in PDX?

Yeah, I could do that sometime! I always feel like I'm hurting for locations, though, so I don't know how much help I'd be. If you know any cool spots, too, maybe we can share info :)
