Shaping Up
Nov. 15th, 2007 03:04 pmThis is silly: Australian Santas instructed not to say Ho Ho Ho, because it could potentially frighten children. Whaaaat? Even some of the Santas are ignoring it because they know how ridiculous it is. ;p
Time for training blather, huzzah!
I think that running may take more of a backseat for a while. The cold weather is *really* not agreeing with me, so it's way too easy for me to talk myself out of going running outside. I also have a bad tendency to overdo it when I try to run on the treadmill, and I never run as far as I do in real space... probably because I just hate the hamster-on-a-wheel feeling that comes with the treadmill.
So, I think I'm going to start going to group exercise classes at the gym to make up for it. Working out makes me feel all good and happy, and working out in a focused, warm environment would be awesome. As great a workout as running is, I don't entirely love *doing* it, I just love the fact that I *can* do it now. And you know? I definitely need more aerobic activity in my life; wushu is not quite that in the format I'm currently confined to.
Speaking of, I'm kiiiiinda thinking about checking out another wushu school. I feel like a bad monkey even saying it, because most martial arts schools make a huge deal out of loyalty (I think?), but the fact is, I'm only getting *some* of what I want out of where I train now. Portland isn't exactly exploding with great wushu options, though, so if I have to change schools, or even go to both schools, then so be it. (well, assuming that's affordable)
I also need to quit eating so much. I generally do fine for 5 or 6 days out of the week, but my weight is not moving at all, in the grand scheme. I get down to 165, which is a tiny improvement, because I wasn't getting down that far before... but then it climbs back up to 170, and I'm back at square one. It doesn't seem like I pig out that badly on my "off" days, but maybe I'm wrong.
I can't believe it's Thursday already. Not that it's a *bad* thing, but, yeah. It's been a busy week, so I hope to catch up on fun things this weekend.
