Well, the weekend was busy, and my whole body HURTS. And for once, it's not due to overdoing it at wushu!

The wedding shoot on Saturday was pretty painless. The couple was laid-back and very easy to work with, and they were schmooping it up with no prompting from anyone... perhaps nauseating to the more black-hearted folks in the audience, but it pretty much rocks for a wedding photographer who prefers natural shots to the run-of-the-mill posed stuff. Which I am. ;)

As for the race shoot? Oh, there was pain. The pain of waking up at 5:30am on a Sunday, for instance. The pain of firing off your shutter approximately 2500 times in three hours--I filled up over 4GB worth of memory card, on medium JPG setting--compared to my usual event average of ~100 shots/hour. The pain of holding the camera, with battery grip and long telephoto lens, up to my face for the duration. I can still feel the ache in my shoulders even now... uuugggh!

That said, it was still pretty fun. There were several different runs and walks as part of the Race for the Cure event, so there was the occasional dry spot, but mostly, it was just a giant mob of people flowing past us for the whole time we were there. The number of participants was staggering, and we had to work fast and shoot as many people as we could. It's nice to have a different sort of challenge, every so often.

It wasn't all work and toil, though. We went to Nathan's to play games and grill sausages on Friday, and we did some vegging out after the race on Sunday, by seeing the new Resident Evil movie.

The movie was very fun and full of chicks kicking ass and shooting things, as you might expect, although I'm not sure how they'd go into a fourth movie, with the ending being how they left it. Annoyingly, they also did some kind of ridiculous post-processing on all the closeups of Milla Jovovich, so she looked all soft and glowy to the point of it being distracting. The poor girl is a 32-year-old former model. Her character spends much of the film running around the desert, killing zombies, and being very dusty and dirty. How is that kind of airbrushy nastiness even slightly appropriate? ::eyeroll::

Oh, and we walked a good 8 miles last night, by going to and from Proper Eats in St. John's. The food is slow to arrive, but it's cool as a hangout space, and once the food *gets* there, it's really good.

I'm definitely feeling like doing a whole lot of nothing for the next couple of days. Yeah, wishful thinking. I'd like to train more, but I'm so sore that I kind of don't feel like moving, so much. I at least want to spend some time in the kitchen and cook up something decent, though. ;p

Wait, were you hanging out on a median near the finish line? Sarah and I did the 5k walk...

I was, towards the end of the event! I was wearing a light green peacoat with big black buttons. I was near Broadway and Burnside for most of it, but we were instructed to move to the finish line once things thinned out where we were at.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I saw you, went... "hmm... naaaaah", and kept walking.

How the hell do you pick through 2500 photos? That's crazy.

Oh, and re: Milla.. it's Hollywood, duh!

Fortunately, it's not my job to sort through them all... the guy who contracted us gets to do that. (muahaha!)

I think most of them just get posted anyway, because they're aiming to get photos of as many people as possible. Apparently, if some runner makes a personal best or something on the race, then he/she will even buy a crappy picture of themselves, if that's all that's out there. ;)
