Diversions ahoy
Sep. 18th, 2007 02:10 pmLast night was full of unexpected diversions. We found ourselves at Kelly Point Park, which is actually pretty darned cool. You hike through some trees, and when you come out, there's sand and water and a cool breeze... surprisingly like a coastal beach, considering it's on the river. I wish we'd found it sooner, because it's already turning horrendously cold.
After that, we randomly decided to stop in at The Alibi, which is definitely an experience, heh. The corny tiki bar decor is pretty hilarious, and the cheesy factor is rounded out by their 7-nights-a-week karaoke offering.
Their karaoke book is HUGE! There were plenty of songs available that I'd looked for in other bars (in Eugene) but hadn't found, so that was awesome. But, the KJ didn't seem to pick up on the fact that the sound balance was way off, so it was easy to overpower the music if you sang even remotely loud. Also, the place could really use even a small stage for the singers, because it was really awkwardly arranged the way it was. It wasn't the worst karaoke experience I've ever had, but I'm kind of still hoping to find better.
Anyhoo, a few shots from my nerd-in-a-trash-can shoot on Saturday:

I have to say, it's hard to make a blonde cheerleader-looking type look nerdy, but I'm kind of going for fashion-nerdy, so I figure it's fine... I think we got the point across. :) The location worked out really well, so I'll have a good place to play around with other ideas. I also think I've figured out how I want to edit the set, so the post-processing from here on out should be easier.
That's all!
