Soooo, uh, what did I do this holiday weekend? Not a whole damned lot.

Saturday was a whole lot of running around like a crazy man, because Ben had to go out of town to help his family for a few days. After he took off, I also shot a wedding, which was actually fun, because I got to see [livejournal.com profile] craftyran, and [livejournal.com profile] mdsvanc, the latter of whom seemed awfully concerned that I wasn't drinking, heh! Then again, a lot of folks there were offering me beer, so he wasn't alone in that. ;)

I was stuck at home for most of Sunday, aside from doing yoga and going running. I slept in, and I wanted to go to a BBQ I'd heard about, but I had to wait around for an appointment at 2:30. She called and rescheduled for 5pm, so I didn't go to the party. Then, 7:30pm rolled around, and there was still no sign of her, and no answer on her phone, so I was pretty pissed off by this point.

Seriously, don't *EVER* flake on an appointment with a photographer. My tolerance for flakes and no-shows has dropped tremendously ever since we started working with models, so ANYONE who flakes out on me nowadays gets little-to-no sympathy.

Anyhoo, I did make some pretty awesome fig bars, a beer-cheese soup, and some calzone. I looove the fig bars, in particular, and I ran out and got a bunch more figs to make more later. Woo!

I made this cool slide-y thing for my portfolio. I think that, once I re-style the rollover descriptions, I might actually be happy with my website, heh. I may fine-tune the scripting a bit more, but I LOVE my slide-y viewer! It definitely reaffirmed my goal to make many awesome things, with the help of Scriptaculous, so I can lure people away from building ugly Flash sites.

I cleaned and rearranged stuff around the house, to some extent. The upstairs is still kind of a disaster, but we'll iron it out soon. I definitely like the new space, although it gets a lot toastier up there than it did in the basement.

I watched a whole dang lot of movies, since I was tired and/or stuck at home for much of the weekend. I actually got ahold of The Bourne Identity, which was pretty good, and I also watched Tom Yum Goong (a.k.a. The Protector), which was really awesome.

I miss my guy, and I really wish I could've slept in today.

That's all!

1. Flaky models need to die in a fire.

2. I left a message on your phone about some code I wanted to ask you about, but I fixed it all by my lonesome, so you can disregard it.

3. I dig the portfolio interface. There's some bugs with clicking and having that portion of the portfolio come up, but it looks like it's coming along nicely. I'll have to take a look at the code.

1) Agreed. Flaky people in general, even! (it wasn't a model this time)

2) Heh, you must have left it on the office phone; I haven't even heard it yet. Ben usually gets all the messages on the photo studio phone, but I just bought a Skype number for my design business, so if you want to get in touch with me, the latter is probably a better option. :)

3) Please elaborate on the bugginess! I suspect I might already know what you're referring to, but just in case I don't...

2. Yeah, it was the office phone.

3. It may be my slow connection here at work, but clicking on the icons doesn't load the full description in the viewing area, it only brings up the CSS-like short description block.

Our site is almost done as well. I'd like to get in there and add some JS to make it a little more dynamic. Right now, it's all just CSS, but the site link you posted will help with that. If you're of the mind, I'd love to get your opinion on things.

Hrm, yeah, it might be a slow connection issue. If the main navigation menu hasn't loaded on the left side yet, then the full description may not have loaded yet, either. I definitely need to find a way to optimize that, or at least have a "loading" message appear.

If you want to toss me a link, I can take a look at your stuff!

There's actually one thing that I would like to do that Gus doesn't feel like messing with the code for. Maybe, if I made you an amazing spread of fig-a-licious food, would you consider it?

Yeah, let me know what you have in mind, and I'll see if it's reasonably doable :) I'm on the hunt for new portfolio work--in both development and design--so if it's something cool that I could possibly show off to potential clients, I'm definitely game.

Feel free to drop me an e-mail: information at mokuzen dot net.

Not that cool, unfortunately. We just need a contact area, similar to what you have on your website, with blanks that people can fill in that will then be emailed to us. Gus and I talked about it after I commented and he thinks that he can do it. We're just both so anxious to get it up that I'd love to have code to plug in for him. I'm totally useless when it comes to CSS so he's been doing all of the actual work himself (I've worked on the Photoshop end to prep things).

You need to disable the slide-y arrows when you're at that end of the slideshow.

Also, if you click on the wushu bit, and then slide way past the end (several clicks) and then go back, the slides will be misaligned. Arguably, this may never be a problem in normal use, especially if you disable the arrows at the ends of the slideshow, but it does raise some questions about bad assumptions and extensibility...

Yeah, I know how to fix a lot of this stuff, it's just a matter of doing it. (maybe at lunch today!)
