Evil is inherent in the system
Aug. 2nd, 2007 10:41 amIf'n you hadn't heard already, Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. bought Dow Jones and the Wall Street Journal. If that doesn't scare you, imagine the WSJ being transformed into a fluffy print version of Fox News. With all the shamelessly partisan spin doctoring that happens on Fox News, you know they'll try it.
Last night was dinner with
junsiew, before she toddles off to Japan! I swear, too many people I like get lured to Japan for long periods of time. ;p She also pawned a bunch of her extra yarn off on me, so now I have metric buttloads of yarn and no idea what to knit. Sooooo, um, anyone want me to make them something? (please don't say "sweater," because I'm totally not ready for that)
She also introduced us to Buffet Palace, which is basically a huge Asian food buffet in Beaverton, and some of the food they have there is NUTS. Ben got some weird vegetable medley that also contained what looked like baby octopus... and you could tell, because they were WHOLE and very much still shaped like an octopus, or whatever other cephalopod it may have actually been.
I couldn't quite bring myself to try one. You know how some vegetarians will say, "I don't eat anything that has a face?" Well, I think that's basically my policy, too... the difference being that what *they* mean is, "anything that originally HAD a face," and what *I* mean is, "anything that still has its face clearly attached." XD
I did eat a mussel for the first time, though. I didn't love it, but it wasn't nearly as bad as oysters, so I give them a pass.
I am very much looking forward to the weekend, especially seeing as we may be going rafting on Saturday! I was half-tempted to just hang around the house and unwind all weekend, but rafting sounds better. If I sit around too much I'll just start thinking about work. ;p
