Weekend update
Sep. 25th, 2006 05:44 pmThe party was pretty damned fun, overall. I went made tons of food, and people seemed to enjoy that stuff. It seems like all the roommates have pretty relaxed-and-groovy friends, and I was also super-pumped at who showed up from my own invite list! :D It was a little weird, because I had my Party Hostess hat on, so to speak, so I wasn't quite myself, but it was great seeing everyone regardless. Things ended on a less-than-spectacular note--I'll save that for Friends-Only--but for the most part, I think we all had fun the rest of the evening.
The wedding thinger on Saturday went really well, too. I haven't had time to go over my shots at length, but just from the previews on my LCD and the few that I saw from the guys, I think we got some really good, sellable stuff. The bride and groom were really accomodating and excited to have us there, and the whole occasion was pretty fun and relaxed.
Sunday was sailing, yet again. ::rotfl:: This time, both Ben's and David's families came along, so we had enough people that we had to split up into two boats. The whole thing of being around Ben's family was a little freaky, I have to admit. Other people's families always weird me out, much like being at a big party when I only know one or two of the attendees. Families are even weirder, though, because they've all known each other all their lives, and have an even stronger connection than friends and acquaintances at a party. They know each other's quirks, they all know each other's old stories... etc.
And, of course, that's not to mention the fact that we haven't even been dating all that long, and "meeting the parents" is always billed as such a big-deal, precursor-to-marriage sort of event, that a certain level of "HOLY CRAP MUST MAKE GOOD IMPRESSION AAAHH" comes with it by default. It's kind of silly to feel that way, though... I mean, we've all had at least one of our regular friends meet our parental units before, right? Shoot, I and the rest of the AHS squad used to hang out with
shannidee's parents pretty darned often, even, and some of us still do. I suppose meeting someone's parents is only as big a deal as you allow it to be.
Anyway, long story short, they were nice folks, and I think I managed to not horribly offend anybody. And everyone had fun out on the boat, so I'd call it a successful afternoon. The wind wasn't cooperating with us as much as last time, but we did get some good gusts here and there.
Today is the first official wushu practice of the year!! Too bad I feel like crap today, heh. I think I might be getting sick, but I'm still in denial on that, for the moment. ;p
