I went out on the turf field again yesterday to train wushu like mad, and OMG SO MUCH PAIN. The first week is always the most brutal. It seems like every time I practice, I shake my fist at the skies and curse my busted ankle. I'm getting used to jumping on it again, though, albeit slowly. I'm still a little scared of landing on it wrong and injuring it again, because it's already weakened.
Much to my surprise, however, both Goo *and* Byron came out to practice with me, so it was pretty fun in spite of the soreness. We actually did some stance and punching basics, too, and I put them through a couple of nasty drills that I did on Monday. Goo's all excited to learn nanquan and taiji, so I'm trying to remember the 24 Yang form I learned from Sifu before I had to stop training there. Maybe I *am* up for this coaching thing, after all. They invited me to dinner with more wushu and VSA people afterwards, too, and that was fun.
I don't know how I got through the 90 minutes of practice yesterday, though, because I was effin' tired. I conked out like nobody's business.
I was struck with an insane notion earlier today, too: Doing a triathlon! I must be crazy. However, I'm thinking that A) I can now knock out a 5k run pretty consistently, B) my bike works and I'll be using it a lot more, and C) I used to be a pretty solid swimmer back in the day. Not the greatest, but not bad. I actually think I'd be more worried about the swimming part than the running or biking. Maybe this duathlon would be a better idea.
Lots of boring-but-necessary stuff to get accomplished tonight. :p

Date: 2006-08-27 04:53 pm (UTC)Seriously, though, I've been a lazy bastard this summer... I think the main motivator with wushu right now is just that I hadn't been able to do it at *all* for like 2 months because of my ankle injury, so I'm craving it at this point.
