So, I'm gonna try to start the trip recap, even though I'm tired and slightly hung over. Ha!

First off, here are pictures! Some silly stuff, lots of random quasi-artistic shots, and the last few at the end are from David's.

Saturday! We shoved off on Saturday morning and rolled on over to Florence, but we pretty much skipped over it entirely, and headed south on the 101. The weather was pretty gloomy-looking, but fortunately, we didn't get rained on very much. We stopped in Coos Bay first, and... pretty much decided that it sucked. ::laughs:: They had some cool sailboats, but there wasn't much otherwise. We did stop at this odd little restaurant there for lunch, though, where they had German food and interesting old war-era posters and signs all over the walls.

After that we kept driving, and ended up in Bandon, which was a marked improvement. One unexpectedly neat thing was that a Coast Guard boat was docked there, getting ready to head out and do a memorial service... we said howdy to them, and they said we could get on the boat and look around inside! They even let us take pictures, which kind of surprised me. The only part that sucked was when I slipped on a grating and fell on my ass. HARD.

Later on, Michael had the idea of doing oyster shooters, so I thought, hey, might as well, just so I can tell people I've done it. (and thusly never be bothered about it again, LOL) It actually wasn't too bad, at first, but the effin' thing was so big that I couldn't swallow it whole, so I started chewing... and then it got BAD. Ew ew ew. NEVER AGAIN, people. We biffed around in the shops for a bit after that, including one place that had free candy samples, and *thank GOD* for that, because I was not happy after the oyster thing.

We headed further down the road after that, and stopped at Port Orford. There were some nice beaches down there, and I just had to kick off my shoes, roll up my pants legs, and biff around in the water, even if it *was* cold... my pants and shoes got completely soaked anyway, but it was still good. There were some cute shops in the area, too, and one of them gave us sort of a mini-wine tasting. Woo!

After that, we decided to stay over in Gold Beach, which didn't disappoint. :) But most of that was on Sunday, soooo... until next time!

Oooh! Do you remeber where that German restaurant's at? I assume I could find it if I drove around Coos Bay enough, but that doesn't sound like fun...

Peter's family has a "tradition" where you have to shoot an oyster straight from the shell on the beach - yeah, pretty much never again.
