I feel like I should apologize in advance, because I have a feeling I'm going to be blabbing about wushu incessantly until the Berkeley tournament. So, yeah, sorry! ^^; I'll use LJ-cuts for those who don't know or don't care WTF I'm talking about. I do it because I care, y'all. ;p
Wushu was interesting yesterday. Phil decided to start delegating responsibilities, to get us prepped for his departure at the end of this term, which basically meant that David and I led the entire practice. Stance and punching basics, kicks, jumps, yadda yadda. I taught couple of n00blets some new stuff for a bit, too. It's bizarre to be in charge, even a little bit; I feel like there is so much that I still need to learn. But, I find that I *do* know more than I think I do, at times. I also understand even more why Phil gets so frustrated when people aren't on task. It's hard to fit your own training in when you're watching over everyone else's, so you *really* don't want people to waste their time. ;p
So, yeah, I guess I didn't get to train quite as hard as I'd have liked. I did completely kill myself during lines, though; I blasted through the first 2 sections, and kind of crapped out on the 3rd and 4th--my throat was burning from breathing so hard--but those first two felt like fire! Hells yeah, I need to do more of that. I need more stamina. Baaah.
Suey, David, and Byron went to the mat room to plan out a group set after practice, so I went along for a bit to try out cartwheels and aerials. I think my cartwheel *might* be fast enough to turn into an aerial, but then I try to do 1-handed cartwheels, and the Fear kicks in. Argh! I'm not sure why I have no problem busting out inside falls and attempting break falls whenever, but I get so completely terrified by aerials. Maybe it's the fact that, if I botched the landing, I'd be breaking my face instead of my shoulder. ::rotfl::
In other news, yesterday's elevator drama wasn't a first-time thing for this building. Some temps got stuck in the elevator last summer, too, and I'd never even heard about it! Apparently, nobody's actually seen the elevator permit, either. Yeah, *that* makes me feel better. ;p STAIRS FTW!
I did coffee with Ben this morning, and we're both super-pumped for the upcoming photo session. Apparently, there are several people who are replying to him and sounding enthusiastic about hamming it up for the cameras, so it looks like it'll be good. I can't wait! Also, I can now officially recommend Cafe Mam, near the bus station. I hadn't been there before, and it's a bit more expensive than my usual order at Dutch Bros., but they have frothy milk mocha goodness down to a freaking science. Soooo yummy! On the down side, Ben randomly got a bloody nose on the walk back to our respective workplaces. When I finally headed back up to my desk, he was bleeding into a wad of Taco Time napkins. ^^; Hopefully everything's okay.
Networked iTunes collections are a thing of beauty. A lot of people in my office seem to have eclectic collections with more obscure bands in the rotation, so it's completely up my alley. I feel like I should bring in more of my CDs, so I can share the love, too. My current selection is so tiny and limited compared to what I have at home!
It's Lazy Tuesday! I think I'll be taking some pictures, and getting Winkletoes to 46. God, progress is so slow on that front. I hate levelling from 40 to 50. :p I think J's going to do dinner tonight, too, I hope. Food food food! Knowing boys who can cook is the greatest thing ever.
