I am officially in love with this T-shirt. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that my grammar is quite good enough for me to pull it off. XD Still, so funny!

Yeah, I am a few days late saying so, but I'm sad about Don Knotts. I never watched the Andy Griffith Show--no, I'm not *that* old--but I remember being a small child and watching him biff around with his buggy-eyed expression and his colorful ascot, squabbling with those crazy kids on Three's Company.

Pardon the moment of real seriousness: It's a tough read, but this page hits upon a lot of the reasons why I'll always be pro-choice. It's not just single women who weren't careful enough about using protection. It's women who are married, who have too many children already, who might have health problems that make pregnancy extremely dangerous.

There will always be reasons why a woman may not want or be able to carry a pregnancy to term, and there will always be a sense of desperation that drives some women to seek out means for abortion. If they can't do it legally, then they'll risk their lives to do it illegally. So many women have died from illegal or self-inflicted abortions, leaving behind their husbands, their children, the people who love them.

Why force them into that position, when we can provide the same thing in a form that is more strongly regulated, and far safer? It's almost as if we'd be trading the lives of women who have built lives and established relationships, for the lives of people who haven't even been born yet, and therefore have none of these things... is that any better?

The bottom line for me is, we are talking about giving life to children, and those children deserve the absolute best that we can give them. There is no sense in bringing a child into the world if we cannot or will not give them that, for whatever reason.

Anyhoo, I went to extra practice last night, and spent most of it working on my effing butterfly. I think I have it figured out, conceptually, but my back is refusing to flex as far as it should when I'm in the air. YAY. I'm not sure what kind of muscles I'd need in my back to lift my incredibly bulky lower half any higher, but I sure as hell don't have 'em. (yet) I'm so glad I'm not competing this weekend, because I wouldn't feel prepared.

We still don't have an after-party venue, and the bloody thing is supposed to happen on Saturday night. WTF? I briefly considered asking the Shack folk, since they're the only people I know with a house, but then I remember what the after-parties have been like in previous years, and... well, let's just say that I don't think they want 100+ drunk wushu kids descending upon their place. ::rotfl:: I have no other hookups, so hopefully *somebody* will pull something out of his or her ass.

Computer still broken, mostly because I have no time to work on it. Grar. I hope to dink around with the hardware this evening, but I probably won't have time.

Sorry if I'm boring this week, I have no energy for anything else.

Is true. And the foster care system doesn't work as well as people think it does. Each year, a lot of kids "age out" of the foster care system and just end up on the streets with nothing... >_<

Grammar Punkz

Quite some time ago, I got the bug to become a grammar punk. I set about reading grammar books and proofing newspapers/book/magazines in my spare time. I really wanted to be that guy who would constantly correct someone for their bad grammar. After about a year of this, I realized that all I had learned were the differences between there, their, and they're... I don't have the gene. So now, I roam about with a large grammar chip on my shoulder, unsure if what someone says is really bad grammar or just suggestive double-speak.

As a positive note: I now know the differences between there, their, and they're! A feat many in the MMORPG world have yet to grasp!
