Island in the sun
Aug. 27th, 2005 07:40 pmWe're back from my grandpa's house, which was quite nice. :) Ma made a ton of Chinese food and we stuffed ourselves silly, and the rest of the time we just biffed around and played some pool and such. It was nice to be there, even if the visit felt a little rushed--we were only there for about a day--but everybody seemed rather jazzed that I was able to come down on a non-Christmas occasion.
Because I'm a big dork, I couldn't resist logging onto WoW after everyone went to bed last night. Apparently, my cousin has characters on 5 or 6 different servers, so he'd already installed it on the computer at Grandpa's. All I actually did was chat with people and run Fiz out to the Plaguelands, but still WoW-ing while I'm out of town seems rather silly, heh. :)
This morning was devoted to--gasp--clothes shopping. ::laughs:: It's ridiculously hot and sunny in L.A., and that was a little too much for an Oregon girl who prefers pants to shorts, but Ma and I were only outside for a few minutes at a time, so it wasn't so bad. We found some nice stuff for cheap, but fitting it into my suitcases for the plane ride home will be a challenge.
I also saw a throng of very skinny girls outside of Macy's, who were apparently auditioning for America's Next Top Model. LMAO! If you took away their candy-colored stiletto heels, a lot of them would have been about my height... which probably doesn't bode all that well for their modeling prospects, seeing as I'm a mere mortal at 5'7". ;p
Also: L.A. drivers are frickin' crazy. I manage to block it out of my memory for most of the year, but, argh, people drive like jerks down here. Soooo glad I'm not doing any of the driving.
Anyhoo, I'm not sure what's on tap for tomorrow, but hopefully it'll be relaxing. W00t!
