I AM SO TIRED. James was at work until like 12:30--yes, as in the 12:30 that comes directly *after* midnight--last night, so I had to go pick him up and stuff, and now I'm shorted on sleep. Also, the lack of sleep is making me ravenously hungry. Sometimes, the carpooling thing? Not so good.
I was browsing through the archives of an online advice column yesterday evening, and ran across the following, in response to a reader's complaint that their online boyfriend didn't write them very often:
Some people just don't do very well at staying in touch. I have long-distance friendships like this - when we see each other, it's fabulous, but otherwise, it's radio silence - and I've had boyfriends like this too. These people don't see the point of dropping a line if nothing significant is going on; calling "just to talk" goes against their nature.
I mention it because, that pretty much nails my phone/e-mail behaviors on the head!
I'm supremely doofus at small-talk, and not always great at general conversation. I do all right, but I'm better in groups of 3 or more, where I can just throw in comments at my lesiure. If I don't have anything in particular that's worth saying, then I probably won't say it. If there isn't much going on, then I probably won't be sending out any lengthy e-mails, unless you specifically ask me a question. As far as the phone goes, I tend to just do my business, and end the call. Calling people, "just to chat," is totally not my thing.
So yeah, if you are wondering why I haven't called or written in a while, that would likely be the reason. :)
Taiji was most excellent. It was good to be back, and I think I'm getting into the spirit of things and not overthinking all my postures. For some reason, Sifu seems concerned about my wrists, because they're kind of knobby-looking and overlong. As far as I can remember, they've *always* been knobby-looking, but I'm sure my going-on-10 years of obsessive computer usage haven't been all that great for them, so maybe there's something to it. ::shrug::
Gizmo goes to the vet today! He's going to flip his lid about it, but hopefully all will go well.
