As some of you may or may not have noticed, I have finally bid farewell to the KimuTaku layout. This is because of the new tags feature that has been introduced on LJ! Yes, you have to switch to the S2 style system, but I'm all about categorizing my stuffs, so I'm excited. But, WTF do I do with the layout now?? Cripes. I like this Flexible Squares thing, but the color scheme needs help, y'all.
In other news, if you like to make fun of people with obscene amounts of money who also make blindingly, astoundingly, astonishingly BAD fashion choices, you ought to be reading Go Fug Yourself.
Yesterday, I stole a few extra minutes and finally made it over to the taiji/kung fu school I was looking at signing on with. (yeah, their website is not so pretty--something I may very well fix myself, if I'm training there for a while) I got to watch the Yang Taiji class for a bit, and I got the sales pitch from the head instructor. He was this smallish Chinese guy that, at times, almost seemed like someone you'd see in one of those movies where a doofy white kid triumphs over his personal problems by learning martial arts. Heh. :)
He did say several things that really sold me, though. He teaches more traditionally and is more intensive with the internal aspect of Taiji than most instructors nowadays, and he's committed to teaching it old-school. Basically, it seems like a place intended for folks who are more serious about their training. I want something that will A) kick my ass in every class, and B) maybe give my wushu some more flavor, so I'm pretty excited.
Anyhoo, there's a 4-class intro package where they give you a lot of personal attention and get you settled into the whole thing of the internal arts, so I'm going back in on Tuesday to give it a go. I'm starting with Yang style, but I'm flirting with taking the 1x/week Chen style class, too.
