Well, I'm alive! I'm super-tired, and my throat hurts like a beasto, but the fever is gone, and I am back at work.
I have the go-ahead to tell folks what's going on, so I've been working up a good post to explain what all has been happening, since I've been so vague the past few posts.
We learned on Wednesday night that J's grandma was hospitalized on Wednesday with a tumor. We learned on Thursday night that it has spread badly, too much so for chemo or radiation, and right now, 6 months is a pretty optimistic estimate. There was a lot of panicking and freaking out, and J finally took off for Grants Pass on, in my car. (more on that in a moment) As of now, he is helping her get settled at an uncle's house in Klamath Falls, and he should hopefully be back in the next few days. He is very sad, but he seems to be coping.
The sheer insanity that was Friday just totally knocked me on my ass. I let J take my car because, as I discovered on Friday morning, there is mold growing on the inside of his car. Upon futher inspection, the floor in the back seat appeared to be soggy. Basically, it looked like the underground parking garage flooded at some point, and in turn, flooded the car. James only recently got his car insured again, so he hadn't been using it, but blegh, flooding?! That is ridiculous and it shouldn't happen.
I am mightily pissed off, because he has been paying $20/month for that parking spot, with the assumption that the car could be parked there safely. I would love to go to town on Stewardship Properties about this, but without a clear idea of when the flooding occurred, I'm not sure what we could do. Even if we had found it right after the flooding, we'd still have had to get it cleaned and dried thoroughly to *prevent* molding. Now we'll probably have to pay even more money so we can get the interior deep-cleaned, and make sure that no more mold grows back.
Anyway, with all the car-related garbage going on, I wound up riding my bike downtown to pick up my paycheck. This would have been fine, but about 5 blocks from the office, the rear tire of my bike came loose, so it tilted and refused to turn. It also did this as I was crossing an intersection, so I panicked like hell and hustled onto the sidewalk. Some jerk rode by and made a bitchy comment about how I was taking up the entire "on-ramp", and I wanted to stab him in his fucking head.
I managed to drag my the rest of the way to work, and got a wrench from the IT department, so I could re-seat the back tire and tighten it up. Needless to say, I rode home *very* carefully. By the time I got the car into the shop and got all that other garbage taken care of, I was too tired and frustrated to go to wushu practice. :p
Sunday kind of sucked butt, too, because I looked in the refrigerator and realized that I was missing some vital food components. I guess this is partly my fault, because I wanted to bake again, but I wound up taking another chance on my unreliable bicycle and rode it over to Safeway. (I brought my own crescent wrench, this time) When I got there, I noticed that I'd lost the key to my bicycle lock. In Eugene, the Bicycle Theft Capital of the World, that is not good news at all. *Especially* at Safeway, because bums seem to love hanging around outside all the time. Anyway, I rolled my bike up onto the bike rack, hoping nobody would notice that it wasn't locked up, and I grocery shopped as fast as was humanly possible.
No, nobody stole my bike, thank goodness. :) But it was a stressful experience, to be sure. And, to top the day off, I started running a fever, and by the time I went to sleep at 11:30, my head was throbbing like crazy and I was freezing cold. I kind of already mentioned that, though. Oh, and there is also the fact that my toilet inexplicably clogged itself. It wasn't enough to make it overflow, but it was enough that it wouldn't flush properly, either. It seemed to fix itself as of this morning, though, which is kind of weird and random, but hey, don't sniff a gift fish.
Anyway, I had to miss work and yet another wushu practice yesterday, so that makes 2 days of work and 3 wushu practices in a row. Graaaar! It stops here!!
Anyway, nothing too terrible happened on Friday night or Saturday--I actually had some fun. :) More on that later.

Date: 2005-05-04 02:00 pm (UTC)-Take care of yourself, Sarah. Ask someone to drive you if you need to get some stuff done. Becci and Ran are usually really great about that. Beccis' car is much less moldy.
