One of the things I wished I had while I was gone was my uber-awesome 80's/classic rock mix CD. It was possibly the most well-received mix CD I'd ever made; I always got a ton compliments on it from various people, on nights when I played it in the DDS van. It was a good CD. Problem is, I have no idea WTF happened to it. It's rare that I actually lose physical objects, so this irks me greatly.

So, I must re-make it, only better! I have to figure out what to put on it, though, because I won't remember all the songs that were on it until I hear them somewhere. Any suggestions, gang?

Speaking of the 80's...

You Belong in 1982
1982
If you scored...
1950 - 1959: You're fun loving, romantic, and more than a little innocent. See you at the drive in!
1960 - 1969: You are a free spirit with a huge heart. Love, peace, and happiness rule - oh, and drugs too.
1970 - 1979: Bold and brash, you take life by the horns. Whether you're partying or protesting, you give it your all!
1980 - 1989: Wild, over the top, and just a little bit cheesy. You're colorful at night - and successful during the day.
1990 - 1999: With you anything goes! You're grunge one day, ghetto fabulous the next. It's all good!

Oh yeah. I know this much is true. ::drum fill::

I need to do my taxes. I have no idea what kind of refund I will or won't get this year, because I've never made over $8k in any year before this one. (usually, closer to $6k) Even having only worked full-time for the last 5 months of 2004, I still made way more than $8k. Gah, puts things in perspective a bit.

Workout kicked my butt yesterday, but I needed it. Bleep! Can't think of anything else, so I'm off.

Haha, those are all great! I love The Promise, but it seems like a lot of people don't know it until they hear it.

That's the thing, I don't recall what most of the songs were, but it was pretty classic stuff that a lot of people would recognize. There was definitely a Michael Jackson song. Tainted Love, I think. Danceable 80's pop stuff.

Prince - D.M.S.R. is hot and danceable
My roommate really likes this ABC CD he picked up recently. It has Poison Arrow, which always makes me think of Vice City. But it's still a pretty good dancey synth song.
I have a secret love for The Police - Every Little Thing She Does is Magic, but I hate the rest of their singles with much passion. I'm not even sure why I like that one.

Unfortunately, I'm at a loss for more at the moment. My mind is a blank slate. I'll give you a gold star if you know what my icon is from.

80s? You *gotta* have some old Van Halen (which probably satisfies the "classic rock" bit as well, since apparently the 80s happened long enough ago now ;p ).

Heh, Van Halen is well-represented on my current classic rock mixes--one of them opens with Hot for Teacher.

So you want poppier stuff? Hrmm.

Lots of classic Michael Jackson 80s goodness on the Thriller album (and some on Bad, but Thriller > Bad by some wide margin, IMO). Tainted Love was done by Soft Cell.

Other suggestions: Tiffany, Cyndi Lauper, Debbie Gibson, Madonna (the early stuff, obviously). Possibly Billy Idol, Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, and The Police.

For some reason I was always partial to Rod Stewart's "Forever Young".. certainly the radio stations played the hell out of it when I was in school.

If you have Vice City, look through the soundtrack for ideas.

Yeah, that's the kind of stuff I'm talking about! Maybe not the Tiffany/Debbie, but YES.

The Vice City soundtrack is effin' awesome. I had to stick Flock of Seagulls' I Ran on a later mix after seeing like 80000 commercials for Vice. So damned catchy!!

Tainted Love was done by Soft Cell.

Heh, yeah, I knew that. ^^; I didn't notice until after I posted that comment (http://www.livejournal.com/users/skeets/1636788.html?thread=1964212#t1964212) that I totally made it sound like I thought it was a Michael Jackson song. ::rotfl::
