Yesterday was NUTS. I wrote this yesterday and forgot to post it:

Enterprise is getting canceled?! WTF? And of course, they do this *after* the show actually starts to improve. I didn't particularly go for Enterprise at first, and I really, really wanted to. How good can a show be if you'd rather spend the hour watching the contrivance-fest that is Smallville, in the hopes of glimpsing a fleeting moment of slashiness? (Well, okay, assume you *aren't* me when you answer that question ::rotfl::)

They've done a lot of damage control this season, though, surprisingly enough. They're actually tapping into Trek canon and the history established by the other series when they're producing these episodes, instead of pooping out things like detox gel and the "temporal cold war," whatever that was. Now, Enterprise is finally starting to feel something like the Trek I grew to love in my youth. And really, Friday night TV ratings are always bad; I've seen a lot of good shows die a slow death in the desert of the Friday night TV schedule. ::coughFireflycough:: If UPN expected to get better ratings by dumping it there, they're just crazy. Friday night is where TV shows go to die.

Anyway, go here if you want to campaign on behalf of the show.

I'm pretty sure Friday nights killed original Trek, too. Heh.

I suspect that pulling an Angel on Enterprise is not going to help matters, though.

YEAH! Somebody on [livejournal.com profile] trekkies mentioned that, too. Gaw, when will they figure out that nobody wants to watch TV on Friday night? :p

"if you'd rather spend the hour watching the contrivance-fest that is Smallville, in the hopes of glimpsing a fleeting moment of slashiness?"

Ironically, you've hit on the one and only thing that probably WOULD have saved Star Trek Enterprise. Malcom and Tripp finally consumate the frustrated attraction that they've been denying all along, and T'Poll is only allowed to WATCH.

I've gotta disagree: nothing could make Enterprise worth watching, and I'm surprised it's lasted this long.
