Since there is apparently RPing this weekend that I am not involved in, I'm thinking this will become the weekend of Movies I Wanted To See in 2004, But Haven't Yet Seen. This is when I start *loving* the fact that we have the $1.50 theater here in town!

SO! Are you in the area? Have some free time between this evening and Monday morning? Want to see one of these? Perhaps more than one? Pick a movie, pick any or all times when we'd want to go see it. Do this multiple times, if you feel like it. Hopefully, we can work it out from there. :D

(3) The Aviator - 3:05 | 6:40 | 10:15
(6) House of Flying Daggers - 12:10 | 3:00 | 7:00 | 9:50
(2) Phantom of the Opera - 2:20 | 7:10 | 10:20
(1) Ray - 11:45am | 3:15 | 6:45 | 10:00
(4) Sideways - 12:25 | 3:25 | 7:05 | 10:05
(5) A Very Long Engagement - 4:30 | 7:00 | 9:30

Note that not all of these movies are at the same theater. Also, the numbers preceding each flick represent the priority I place on seeing said movie, "1" being the one I'd like to see most. Not that this should affect your choice, but hey, in case you're curious.

There's other stuff I want to see, too, but it's looking like Blockbuster or Netflix for those. Sigh.

Anyway, more later, perhaps.

I want to see Ray, The Aviator, Sideways, and House of Flying Daggers. Let me know if you go to any of those, and I'll see if I can come along (tomorrow night is out, but Sunday is clear).

Phantom of the Opera over House of Flying Daggers??
You do realize it is by the man responsible for Batman & Robin, don't you?
Zhang Yimou doth cry.

Anyway, Ray I have not seen and want to. Probably will have to wait until it comes out on video next Tuesday though. Also I skipped Phantom because Joel Schumacher makes my list of directors I will never in my life see another movie by. But of the others, this is the order in which I prefer them:

House of Flying Daggers
Sideways
The Aviator
A Very Long Engagement

Whatever you end up seeing, let me know what you think.

Phantom of the Opera over House of Flying Daggers??

Phantom has a holy assload of nostalgia value for me ^^;; Story takes priority over director. Joel Schumacher *is* responsible for some assy movies, though. Why'd he have to get this one? Sigh.

For some reason, I keep hearing people say that House of Flying Daggers "wasn't that good," or wasn't as good as Hero, or some other such thing. Which, you know, I'll probably still dig it anyway, but it puts me on my guard, for some reason. ::shrug::

I think House of Flying Daggers is about a million times better than Hero. The fighting is more exciting, it's even more beautiful to look at, and the story is more impacting(at least, to me). It's my favorite movie of the year.
