The following picture? Damn near killed me. ::rotfl::

I need a digital piano NOWNOWNOW. The group opted to go without accompaniment before we even started rehearsing songs at all, but I did get a chance to tinker around a bit yesterday. Compared to how I used to play, it was REALLY BAD. And really, if I'd actually had access to a piano every time I've wanted to play over the past, oh, two YEARS or so, it would *never* have gotten this bad. I was pretty much screwed out of any easy opportunity to play when the Music School put a combo lock on their practice rooms. Well, I can get it back, I just need a damned instrument to practice on. Maybe I can get one after Christmas.

See? This is my ongoing problem. Too many things I want to devote my time to, and not enough time to devote to said things. It's a wonder I can keep my head glued on, sometimes.

Anyway, singing for the old folks should be fun. I was reminded yesterday as to why I liked doing SSAA choral arrangements better than SATB, though--I seem to get more enjoyment out of singing Alto II than singing the Alto part (which sometimes borders on mezzo-soprano, depending on the song) in an SATB piece. ::shrug::

First week of no wushu practices. Blah. It's going to be horribly difficult to stay motivated over the next 3-4 weeks. [livejournal.com profile] junsiew and I are going to do lifting and practice Nanquan tonight, but who knows how long we'll keep it up. ^^; I definitely need to find an activity that's less boring than the treadmill or the elliptical trainer. Where's that broadsword?! :p

Also: I want to see Closer, for some reason. Although I hear it's a pretty dark film (I'll have to choose my viewing companions carefully, I suspect), the acting is supposed to be superb. And I'm quite a fan of Clive Owen, thus far. Well, and there's Mr. Law, but I'm sure that was an obvious draw. ;p Hopefully the two of them together have sufficient acting chops to cancel out icky Julia Roberts.

Build's done! Back to it. :D

DOH...

Brian just took a pretty nice Casio keyboard to Goodwill, cuz we couldn't find anywhere to put it and neither of us had played it in years! We took it to the Coburg Road Goodwill - it may still be there.

Yipes! How good was it? :O There was a time when I was actually a fairly skilled pianist, so the sort of digital piano that I want would need to have, at minimum, A) a full set of 88 keys, and B) pressure-sensitivity akin to that of a real piano. (i.e., if you hit the key harder, it plays the note louder, etc.) So yeah, I'm picky.

The one I was looking at recently was $400-500 (ouch!), so if yours has those things, I am *SO* going over there to look for it! How long do things take to get to the sales floor after being donated? ^^;

I really, really don't like the feel of digital keyboards... I'm pretty picky when it comes to real pianos, so I totally know what you mean. I'm pretty sure that Brian's had a full set of keys, and it didn't feel too bad, pressure-wise. It's probably been less than a month since he dropped it off, so worth checking out, for sure! Let me know if you find anything there!

that is a mighty hilarious picture!...

I want a digital piano someday...and some piano lessons so I can know how to properly play it...someday...

Closer was a fine film...people and their messy relationships are always fascinating...all four of the main cast were superb, and that includes Julia Roberts...Jude Law was my initial draw to the film, but Clive Owen and Natalie Portman were quite excellent as well...

That picture is funny, though I really wish the punctuation error wasn't there. Like, I am too bothered by that damn apostrophe to really laugh as hard as I should. Damn you apostrophe!
