This weekend? Totally rocked. I'll work backwards.
First off: Those of you who were non-maybes and said you'd show up yesterday, and then didn't? Y'all suck. ::laughs::
But no, seriously, you missed out. And for those not in the know, I'm referring to the surprise birthday gathering I threw for James yesterday, and now I can ACTUALLY talk about it because there is no longer any danger of spoiling it! ::rotfl::
I sent out emails early in the week filling people in, and I probably could have gotten more attendees, but I couldn't track down valid e-mails for everyone I could think of. Sigh. ^^; Anyway, I managed to sneak out yesterday afternoon and got a cake while I was "at the gym" and arranged for a fake dinner invitation to get him out the door. He didn't start to figure it out until we got to the restaurant and I started looking around for the people that were supposed to be waiting there for us, and I had to tell the hostess to wait for the rest of our party. Nobody was there yet, so I was a little boggled, yes. ;p
But anyway, after everyone had trickled in the door, we had birthday dinner at Red Robin, followed by a Snickers cake at
bookid and
rantar's place, and it was low-key and nice. And yes, James was totally surprised, and I think he's still picking apart everything I've been doing over the past week and a half to try and figure out where I managed to sneak this in, so I am feeling like quite the champion. He really liked it, and was really pleased that everyone came. Thank you x 10000 to everyone who came by and/or helped out!
Saturday was great fun, too. I met up with
junsiew and her friends Yuki and Motoe, and we went to Savouré, which is this cute tea shop that serves high tea in a rather fancy, British sort of way. We didn't spring for the full-on tea service, but we had tea and scones, and it was relaxing and enjoyable. I definitely want to go again sometime, and actually have the full tea service with the scones, little sandwiches, dessert tarts, and the whole bit.
While we were out at tea, I got an invite to go see National Treasure, so after Janet and I dropped off Yuki and Motoe, and hit the craft store for some giftmaking supplies, we met up with the rest of the group and saw the movie. The movie was pretty entertaining, and had some interesting bits of history tangled in with the story. Very cool.
Later on, we went to dinner at McGrath's, and by the time that wrapped up, it was getting pretty late, so that was the end of my Saturday. No complaints from me! :)
Friday was a bit rushed because I was at work rather late, but the Spycraft game was pretty good. My character didn't get laid, so I suppose things could have gone better for him, but he did get the entire party to go shopping. ::laughs:: But as a player, I'm happy.
And now, Dopey Quiz Time!
Not sure how much of that I agree with, but oh well. There were several questions that caused me to waffle on my answer. :)
Anyway, break's over. Back to it!
