Why is my financial life so riddled with difficulties lately?! I just tried to use my debit card at the grocery store, and found out that my card doesn't work. So, I called the bank, and they said they'd turned it off on the 12th, because I disputed a charge. I'm not sure why they did that, because the charge itself wasn't unauthorized. In fact, it was scheduled to be refunded, but I got an e-mail from that company about a week ago, saying that the outfit which handles their credit card transactions wasn't honoring their refund requests. So, the company advised us to dispute the charge.
Anyway, the lady I originally reported the disputed charge to didn't tell me that they were going to turn off my card, and whoever actually turned off the card didn't order me a new one! And of course, it takes 5-7 business days for a new one to get here, and they can't send it any faster. Which, of course, means that it won't be here by Friday morning.
So, instead of having my trusty Visa debit to use while I'm down at Stanford this weekend, I am going to have to either carry an assload of cash the whole time, or write checks all over town. I am SO ANNOYED. What an incredible pain in the ass!
Ahem. Now that I've griped about that...
addwag made a post last night that made me wonder: perhaps, since I'm in Eugene and all, I could audit Japanese classes at Uni. :) I would love to keep studying it, and I'm already forgetting material because I currently have nowhere to use it, except for the occasional meet with Kemma. Maybe I should look into it next term, assuming there aren't too many outrageous fees involved...
Today was going pretty good, for a while there. I ran a couple errands, and now there's money in my account, and things are looking up. Or at least they were, before the debit card debacle. God, it's amazing how much that completely killed my mood. Grr. Stupid bank!
Tonight, there will be wushu, Angel, and DDS. I'm not sure what I'm going to do for dinner, because I don't have any groceries, and I probably won't have time to go back to the store again with my checkbook today.
Anyway, I'm going to get to sewing now, so I won't trip over my pants at competition. Blah, I need to calm down. :)

by John Irving
Despite humble and perhaps literally small beginnings, you inspire
faith in almost everyone you know. You are an agent of higher powers, and you manifest
this fact in mysterious and loud ways. A sense of destiny pervades your every waking
moment, and you prepare with great detail for destiny fulfilled. When you speak, IT
SOUNDS LIKE THIS!
