So, my bento box came today! It's almost disturbingly cute--it comes with a matching cloth carrying bag (to hold a beverage), its own pair of wooden chopsticks, and a cloth chopstick sleeve that matches the bag, and man oh man, it's awesome! But, on the other hand, it's TINY.

Well, okay, so I exaggerate, but I expected it to be bigger, at least. It's probably enough to fill me up for lunch if I have just one item, but god help me if I ever want to make sushi to go with it. ;p

I put together a quick batch of oyako don for tomorrow's lunch, and as I was trying to fit my normal serving in there, I looked at this bento box and thought: "no wonder Japanese women are goddamn twigs! Their lunch boxes are microscopic!" ::asldkfhasdfhaskldfhasf::

Yes, Japan. I KNOW YOUR SLENDERIZING SECRET. I'm onto you!

I think I need to sing more often--I came home feeling rather melancholy this afternoon, but after half an hour or so of belting out tunes along with the RENT soundtrack, I started feeling better. I want to play piano more often, too, but that's a little harder to finagle these days. ::glares at the music school with their combo locks::

Anyway, it's SLEEP TAIMU for me. I must wake up fresh and ready to make things happen.

I must agree there. Singing is heaps of fun regardless of how good you are.

I used to love signing along to the RENT soundtrack, but unfortunately it's gone walk-about. But, as soon as I've got the house to myself, I shut the doors and close all the windows and start belting out random jpop songs and I feel happier instantly.

Yeah, I think the pressure for women to stay slim is huge in Asian culture, in general. My (Chinese) mom has given me shit about my weight for years, even when I was in better shape, and that seems to be a pretty widespread mentality among other Chinese women, too.
