I actually started reading Invisible Monsters yesterday, and I'm ripping right through it. Palahniuk indulges the really bizarre corners of my brain. I'd probably be done with it by now, if I didn't keep getting this headache. I have this dull pain in my head that comes and goes as it likes, and that doesn't respond to pain relievers or caffeine or sleep. I know what's probably causing it, too, and nobody wants to hear about that.

I made myself do work today anyway, though. I'd been putting off my paid ONHW work for probably 10 days, and I completely forgot to go in during daylight and do my paperwork last week, because they all shut down so early. Skip's always out of his office after 1p, and the paperwork lady seems to clock out at 3p, and both are only in Monday through Thursday. When you're working Sunday through Wednesday nights until 3am-ish, the odds of making it in between those hours are pretty slim.

So yeah, I made some changes to the PHP docs, adjusted the DB a bit, and then did a couple hours of data entry. God, data entry sucks when you have a headache. But, I figured I'd better have something under my belt before I go in this week. Skip is one of precisely two professional references that I have right now, and I'd like to keep on his good side.

Mrrrf. Tomorrow, I go to print out my MiniInternship proofs and mail them, and try to get in to do paperwork, and try to apply at Shiki again. I missed it on Friday, because they close between lunch and dinner hours. I have an interview at Circuit City on Wednesday, and Target wants an interview, too. I've been putting off calling Target back, though, because I don't really want to work there so much. And they wanted to interview me on Labor Day, for chrissake. Like I'm going to interview on a national holiday.

Uh, yeah. I have to stop writing when I'm broody and achy.

Current mantra: Eddie Izzard on Wednesday night! And Krispy Kremes! Just keep slogging through for another 24 hours.

Yeah Target has lots of evil corporate politics. I'm sure most other places are like that too but, since I've never worked at any of them and have at Target... I advise against it.

Invisible Monsters is the only other Pahalniuk book I've read. It's still lying around here somewhere. I liked it alright. I won't make any complaints anyway since you're not done yet, and I have the tendency to piss girls off when I state my opinions(I guess I'm insensitive or something...).

Okay, well the second reason still stands unless you sign a disclaimer saying you won't hate me for being an opinionated asshole.

No worries; I'm also hard to offend. :)

Haha, I guess I should include this then:

Spoiler warning for non-[livejournal.com profile] skeetses who might be reading this

Eh, my big problem with the book was that it had the same sort of pull the rug out from under you ending... only like five times. Like the last fifth of the book or whatever every few pages there'd be something new to completely change everything that had come previously in the book. Most of the book is pretty cool and in some ways more interesting than Fight Club(I really liked the recurring "flash" gimmick thing) but the ending kinda wrecked it for me.

And good on you for being hard to offend. I don't know how many girls have called me an asshole for being super opinionated and elitist but it's probably a lot.
