So, I got farther tonight than I did last night, but here's what it puked out when I finally got stuck:

I did the config, and the make, and then I got this at the end when I did make install:

Can not find file /home5/sgiffrow/mysql/include/-c.Z
1) Check spelling of platform name
2) Reread distribution media, and check for errors
3) If using diskettes, Tar both diskettes before running ./install
make[2]: *** [install-pkgincludeHEADERS] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home5/sgiffrow/mysql/include'
make[1]: *** [install-am] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home5/sgiffrow/mysql/include'
make: *** [install-recursive] Error 1

Any ideas?? ^^;

I'm getting awfully sleepy, finally. Bedtime for me! ::poof::

-c.Z ?? WTF?

I went to mysql.com to dl & install mysql, just to see, but it turns out the tarball I downloaded was binary, i.e. already compiled & ready to run out of whatever directory you unpack it to. So if compiling is too much of a PITA I suppose you can always try that.

Yeah, I'd thought about that, but I'm not 100% sure which binary I should get, being that it's the Univeristy's server and all. Consulting hasn't gotten back to me, either, so I guess I have to wait on them.

Man, this is annoying! x_x

'uname -a' should tell you all you need (OS/hardware type).
