Wow, this is a long post. You have been warned.
It has been a pretty decent Tuesday, I'd say. I am super-tired, but I had fun. Near the end of my shift, I got a call from
aquatwo saying that he was near campus, with adorable 18 month old daughter in tow, and wondering when I was available. So, we visited for a bit between my shift at work and my volunteer meeting, had a bite to eat, and, *of course*, played some DDR. Ah, nerdity. ::adlfhasdlkfhaslkfhdaslkf:: I'd have liked to be in a less-crappy physical state (partly due to my incredibly blah mood, and partly because I sucked it up on DDR ::rotfl::), but it was terribly nice to be visited and actually have TIME for it. *Especially* after my last few failed attempts. ::more apologies for
amygirl::
As an aside, it was nice to see somebody who actually treats their kids well and at least semi-intelligently. It seems like I mostly see kids getting yelled at, spanked, or whatever when they're doing something wrong, and that's upsetting. I've always felt that if you interact with your kids intelligently, then they'll learn to act intelligently of their own accord.But mostly, I guess Stephen and Sophia helped remind me that I don't have to turn into an exact replica of my mom when I start having kids. XD
The volunteer meeting was mostly a re-tread for me, because I was involved with Foreign Language Day last year, but it sounds like fun. :) And the t-shirts are 10000x better than last year's--black shirt (as opposed to last year's white), and sizes that actually fit. (as opposed to last year's L and XL, both of which were *enormous*) Oh, and I never mentioned this, but apparently this year, I'm scheduled to do my presentation twice instead of once! ::boggle:: I'm thinking that I may cover two different lineups of J-rock/indies bands if I'm feeling ambitious, because I had *so* much trouble deciding what groups to present last year, and now I have at least twice as many bands to choose from. I was kind of stressed at the idea of doing this presentation, but after the volunteer meeting, and with how jazzed everyone was about the music videos I showed at Sushi Night, I'm actually getting pretty excited. Yee! :D
Also: I have to give props to Kosuke, because he was totally down with Luna Sea and Sugizo at Sushi Night. XD And oddly enough, he *and* a ton of other random people were singing along with BEAT. Apparently, we aren't the only people who like to go around belting out sappy KR songs! YES AKSDFLASDFHAKLFSD
And, to top off the evening, Buffy night was cool.
rkelly brought me a Poe CD wrapped in pritty paper! <3 It is now playing. And I lured
whiteraevyn up here with the promise of much easter candy from the Box Of Doom, so she actually stayed to hang out for a while! :D
It's nice to actually see people for more than 5 minutes. Aside from things like Buffy night, not a lot really goes on in the way of gatherings. It's weird that none of us seem to have a terribly overwhelming social life, and yet we *still* don't get off our asses and come see each other more often than this. Well, aside from the posse next door, cos, y'know, they're *next door*. We're not *that* lazy. ::rotfl:: Maybe after I enter the much-less-busy month of May, I can try to remedy that. :)
So, yes, I still feel kind of crappy physically, although it has mostly retreated to my stomach, now. And I am in a pretty nice mood, so yay! :) G'night, kids!
