The Problem: Two weeks of headache, sore throat, and stomach problems. Fatigue and sore muscles at times, too.

The Answer: ALLERGY MEDICATION??!

Yes, the fscking Health Center gave me allergy meds for my stupid sickness. ME, who has never needed more than the occasional over-the-counter antihistamine during the spring! Me, who hasn't had a runny nose or congestion during this sick period until, oh, TODAY!

Allergy pills and FLONASE. What. The. HELL.

I suppose that's a sound reminder of why I never actually want to consult with these people when I'm sick. It's probably faster and/or easier to ride it out than to muck it up with senseless crap. :p

Anyways, I got a doctor's note, so at least my attendance grade won't be shot down the crapper. But bloody hell, I wanted to feel BETTER. I suppose I'll take this junk they gave me, since it was free and all, but I'm highly skeptical that it'll help me in any significant way.

Bloody hell. I'm going to go sleep for like 10 years. Wake me up when it's time to get married and start popping out kids.

If the sore throat is caused by post-nasal drip, the Flonase should kick its ass. If not, then.. um.. hmm. Tylenol should handle the headaches and sore muscles without affecting your stomach too much; alternately, if your stomach can handle it, take something stronger (maybe it's just me, but I swear to the gods that Tylenol is worthless).

For what it's worth, you might consider taking large doses of vitamin C - say, two or three times the normal recommended dose, or more if you can handle it. (Some people get diarrhea from way too much C, some don't.) It's relatively cheap stuff, and believed to help the immune system.

Of course, you likely knew all this already.

Allergy medicine. WTF would you need allergy medicine for? Did these so-called doctors, or med students, or hobos, or whatever they are, even ask you what your symptoms were?

The sore throat has seemed independent of any other thing--I haven't had nasal congestion, drip, or anything mucousy happening until today. And even still, I consider that to be the most minor of the entire list problems. I can work and study through a sore throat. The stomach issues, headaches, and general fatigue are a lot tougher to contend with.

And yeah, the student health center is sketchy at best. There have been one or two times where they've been spot-on with diagnosing and treating me, but the rest of the time, they've had nothing to offer in the way of help or expertise. :p
